There are a lot of gluten free options and our server assured us that allergy tickets are clearly identified in the kitchen and appropriate precautions are taken. In spite of that, my salad initially came out with croutons. There were two of us with celiac and both of our entrees came out with a breadstick laying on the food. I did not eat part of the food because of this, the portion near the breadstick; what I did eat was delicious. I will go back but will be very specific and firm with the server.

I had been to jays three times after my diagnosis of celiac. First two times I didn’t get sick and the food was delicious. The last time I did have a reaction. I learned that the cooks were younger and I’m sure have some issues fully understanding the cross contamination issues with celiac. The waitress told us they look at every item they use to verify if it says contains gluten. They are trying to make sure I was safe. Cross contamination is hard to fully control as I’m super sensitive. Jay the owner is amazing and his some has an allergy and is working to make sure all team members are aware of the cross contamination issues regarding allergies.

J’s advertises themselves as being gluten free etc, however I did feel slightly ill after my meal of prime rib, veggies, and loaded baked potato. I also had a salad with blue cheese dressing. I let the server know that I could not have gluten and she made sure not to put croutons on my salad, yet brought my dinner plate out with a breadstick laid across all of my food. I decided not to complain about it and I’m not sure if this is what did me in or if something else was cc’d. I appreciate their effort and the server was definitely a sweet girl. The meal tasted good!
