Kani Ka Pila Grille

I went to the restaurant recently and got glutened. I ordered the burger and they had the side on the same plate in another container, not much separation at all. Red flag number one as I have gotten sick this way before. I should have sent it back and insisted on a fresh burger but I just tried to eat the parts not by the other container. I still got sick and miserable. I’ve been there before multiple times with no issues so I was really disappointed.

One of the best dinners we had in Waikiki! Had tacos with lettuce instead of tortillas. Other gf family members had pork chop with the garlic mashed (delicious) and another had the de loco moco (loved it). Finished with the amazing pineapple crème brûlée. Presentation on each dish was great as well and at a fraction of the cost of other higher end options that were just meh. The live hawaiian music topped off a fantastic dinner. Highly recommend

We stayed at the Outrigger so it was convenient to eat here. They have gluten free items noted on the menu. My wheat allergic son was excited to try gluten free loco moco as it was listed as gf on the menu. When he ordered, the waiter stated that even though it was listed as gf, they had recently changed the item and it wasn’t anymore due to the gravy. He chose to eat the loco moco without the gravy (the waiter confirmed that these items were safe). There were a few other gluten free items on the menu.

They had gluten free items marked BUT make sure you say you’re coeliac as some items that are marked gf are not coeliac safe. The waiter knew confidential what I could or couldn’t eat. I played it safe and got a steak with veggies and mash, was the best steak I’ve had in a long time.

Great food, very reasonably priced. They had Gf buns and could do the salads Gf with mods.

GF menu is very limited, I had the fish tacos and a salad with grilled shrimp. It was excellent and I didn't get sick. Hawaiian music every evening.
