Not as accommodating as I had hoped. Asked if the panini could be gluten free and she said yes, though curiously it is made on a bun. I asked if it was prepared in separate space and she said no. I asked if they could clean in between and she said: “sort of”. So I got the tacos instead, which were okay. Corn tortillas fell apart. Husband said the eggplant panini was 90% bread and almost nothing in it. They didn’t tell us you have to pay at the counter so we sat outside 10mins after finishing lunch unaware why the waitress hadn’t come. I wouldn’t go back.

It's not often you find a restaurant that is primarily plant based, and has GF and meat options as well. And, everything is creative and delicious. Quite often restaurants that cater vegans will just slap a prepackaged veggie or impossible burger on the menu and call it a day. Not at Kayak, they offer a variety of vegan/plant based food, sauces and desserts. Great place if you’re on a strict diet like I am. The salad was amazing and healthy, but above all it tasted awesome! One of the best places in Savannah for a Celiac to eat! Our waiter was very knowledgeable about the entire menu. Small but quaint local place. The sandwiches and soups were delicious! I even ordered a sandwich to go for lunch the next day!

Great place for a quick bite to eat. The menu was clearly marked with what was gluten free and what wasn’t. Plenty of options and good service.

Menu items marked with GF. Mostly salads, but they also offer Udi’s gluten free bread and wraps. I ordered the Cobb Salad. Very small dining area but good salad.

When my family of 4 celiacs arrived waiter informed us there is no dedicated gluten free kitchen space, and gluten and non gluten buns are on the same grill. Spoke to the main chief and he confirmed nothing is strictly free of cross contaimination.
Since this was the weekend of my wedding I did not want to get glutened so 4 of the 12 people who met there could not eat.

I talked to the staff and they said they use the all the same equipment (pots, pans, cutting boards) for their gluten free dishes. I did not feel comfortable eating here. I feel like I was mislead by their website and the reviews on this website and the staff was not helpful.

I ordered the Broughton Cobb Salad and a side of steamed shrimp. The salad was huge and had lots of bacon, egg, advocation and red onion. It had chicken also but it was very dry. My husband ordered shrimp on his spinach salad snd let me have one. Well, that was enough to make me order a side of shrimp. It was BEST I’ve had in a long time, seasoned to perfection.

One of the very few places I trust for a safe gluten free meal in Savannah. A very casual restaurant. The food always tastes fresh and, most importantly, I've never felt sick after eating here.

I would die for the chefs at the Kayak Kafé. Their window says “All Diets Welcome” and they mean it! The best gluten/dairy free restaurant I’ve encountered. Waiters are all knowledgeable and understanding. GO HERE!

I had the Mexican chicken salad. It was good; next time I would add avocado as it only came with 3 slices. GF and vegetarian options marked on main menu. We ate outside around 4pm and were the only customers so no issues with social distancing.

Delicious GF tacos. My girlfriend had the salad, and she enjoyed it very much.

I go to the midtown location every now and then. My most recent trip there was my first since going GF. They have wings, salads, and tacos with corn tortilla options. I love the BBQ pineapple tacos. And Damon is the most awesome bartender in town.
Very friendly and knowledgeable. I got the Cobb Salad and it was very good. No cross contamination is a win for me! Thanks for taking care of me!
Yes
The food is average. Food needs to be spiced more.
Lots of options and flexible staff, they will make great accommodations to your meal so that you can enjoy it.
Yes
Amazing! Lots of options! They do have udi guns not bread but still...the servers are great and knowledgeable
Yes
Gluten free bun ( not bread ..udi ), sides are a little limited. Overall I've eaten safely here several times and the food is good. Solid sandwich shop with corn taco options also.
My parents went here a few weeks ago and are still raving about the lime chicken tacos! My mom is also celiac and had no problems. No gluten free menu but staff was very helpful and aware and pointed out a lot of gf options. Ate there twice did not get sick.
Yes
If your going to eat here get some tacos. I ordered a sandwich on an udi’s gluten free bun. It did not look like udi’s. After some deliberation I asked to compare the udi’s to a regular bun... they looked the same. I ended up not eating it since I can’t risk getting sick. All the food is made in the same 5ft by 5ft kitchen. Also the salt shaker was producing salt and we opened it up to find rust all in the top portion of the shaker. So much so that there was actually a huge chunk of red salt from it. I know it’s humid here but they obviously don’t clean those everyday like most restaurants.
I had black bean spinach mushroom tacos on corn tortillas with side salad lemon herb dressing- pretty good! No reaction!
Yes
Delicious lime chicken tacos on corn tortillas! Also offer sandwiches and paninis in GF bread as well as multiple salads with GF dressings. You won't be disappointed!!!
The young lady assigned to my party's table gave off the impression that we were an inconvenience. If not for the manager (or owner?), who was inviting and left me with the impression that she was glad we came to patronize the business, I would not think about ever going back. The hummus is good. It does have kick. The corn tortillas served to me were supposed to be toasted but came out limp and a little too chewy.
I went here because of all of the great reviews and I found a crouton in my salad when I told them I had celiac. They said they knew what to do, but clearly they don't.
No
Food was delicious and almost anything on the menu can be made gluten free! Guacamole, Tacos, and Enchiladas were delicious!!
Service was overwhelmed at lunch during heavy lunch crowd. But, they were very kind and if you are patient, they are understanding about allergies. Sandwiches are served on a Udi's bun, which is ok but not sandwich like. Food was ok, but not great. Would eat there again for the precautions, but that would be the primary reason.
Yes
Service very slow. Waitress not friendly. Waited 10 minutes to take drink order. Waited another 10 minutes for drinks to be delivered. Sign on window says "Fast Fresh Friendly ". Certainly not fast or friendly! Now 30 minutes in and still no food. Finally was served lunch after 35+ minutes. Mac 'n Cheese was very good and the Cuban was good too. Most likely would never go back.
Yes
Enjoyed the the chicken lime and Jerry tacos, very filling!
Great little lunch place... I got the pulled pork pineapple tacos on corn tortilla and were told they were gluten free completely. They were amazing! My non gluten free family loved it too! Would def come back
Yes
Their menu states that they can adapt many items to be GF but when I asked about certain dishes the two waitresses I spoke with didn't seem familiar with the restrictions of a celiac diet. However they were trying hard to be helpful and willing to provide me with whatever information I needed, including bringing out bottles so I could check the ingredients. Their food was delicious (I ate alone while my husband with celiac was in a meeting), had options for vegetarians, a very friendly staff and atmosphere, and was in a convenient location downtown. It would be a great spot for anyone on a GF restricted diet that is non-celiac and/or does not have a wheat allergy. For those with celiac proceed with high caution and ask before ordering.
Yes
Got extremely sick afterwards. I specified that I have a food allergy and was assured that my BBQ pineapple tacos were GF. I haven't been this sick in years.
The Cuban is delicious! Went back twice...yum! They are aware and understand celiac.
Yes
Good food, attentive servers and well aware of allergy sensitivities. My wife and I ate here 3 times during our stay, twice for lunch and once for a light dinner, corn tortillas for tacos and plenty of GF options for salads, I believe they also had GF bread option
Awesome food!!!!!
Yes
From my experience, the service at their new location, 5002 Paulsen St, is much better than the downtown. Good quality food. They are knowledgeable about GF and note it on the receipt, but I'm not positive about cross-contamination.
No
Bad service, very unprofessional and gf options were terrible:/
Ordered a salad and asked her to make sure the person making it would wash their hands beforehand and she never did. The salad I got wasn't exactly the one I ordered but tasted good even though I was taking a risk (we had already left when we realized it).
