Had a pleasant experience at KPOT today. It can be difficult to navigate and they don't have a GF menu available. The waitstaff was very helpful. I did the lunch hot pot experience. Unfortunately, none of the hot pot bases are GF, but you are able to order plain broths. They specifically mentioned chicken, pork, and a mix of the two. You could even do water. There was a sauce bar with fresh ingredients that you could add to your broth. I picked a few of these to dress it up (cilantro, green onions, minced garlic, and sliced jalapenos). My waiter shared photos from the kitchen with marked-up menus showing foods to avoid that contained gluten. Here’s what I found:
Safe for Hot Pot: All of the Sliced Meats, Seafood, and Vegetables. Cattle Tripe, Quail Eggs, Beef Aorta, Boneless Duck Feet, Vermicelli, Fresh Pho Noodles, White Rice, and Mei Fun.
You can do the Korean Barbecue if you'd like, though the options are more limited. Basically avoid anything that comes with a sauce or is marinated. Here's the list of safe items:
BBQ: Prime Brisket, Sliced Beef Belly, K-Pot Steak, Finger Ribs, Beef Tongue, Pork Belly (regular style), Mussels, Garlic Shrimp, Jumbo Shrimp, Scallops, and all of the Vegetables.
