Kruse can best be described as a boujie bodega. There are about half a dozen tables and two bars where you can sit for food service. The food was solid and pretty healthy. Most of the menu could be made GF. Tons of creative and yummy espresso drinks and a good selection of wine as well. The stuff they offer in the store section is of high quality.

Service was great and the owner came around to ask whether everything was up to par, how we heard about them (it opened late March ‘23), and if we liked the vibe of the place. My food was slow to come out, but wasn’t much of a big deal as it seemed to be a result of accommodating me (see below).

I had the Kruse Karbonara which was definitely far from a carbonara but it was still pretty good. The smoked sausage is more like kielbasa, but it’s much much better than the typical store bought stuff.

I originally ordered a sandwich, as I was assured they took CC seriously and was told that there is a separate panini press. However, after taking our order our waitress came back out to inform me that someone was being trained in / was there for a stage and they had not been notified that the two separate presses were designated GF and not, so they couldn’t make me a panini at that time. Looking forward to going back to try a sandwich.

Was disappointed in the mistake but they clearly know their stuff and take cross contamination seriously and the food isn’t bad (just not as much my style), so would definitely recommend.

I would inquire more about the “GF PB cookies” on the menu if you were to order them though, as I saw they were in the same display cabinet as gluten baked goods. Just ask. The staff seems poised to point you in the right direction.
