I was hopeful based on the other reviews but we did not have a good experience at this establishment. We came in off peak hours, prepared to ask questions. The server was extremely young and inexperienced. She was not able to clearly call out what menu items were gluten free on the menu. When we got up to leave because they didn't seem able to accommodate us, suddenly she said that all the vegetarian items were gluten free. I thought there might be a language barrier issue so we stayed based on the other reviews. Me and my family (two celiacs) ordered according to what she suggested and both got ill. I think they misrepresented the menu to us and should have let us go elsewhere rather than giving bad information. Instead, they lied to us. I would give this place zero stars if it was possible.

Very knowledgeable but their written menu was out of date and didn't match the exact ingredients in the food but wait staff was very helpful

I was so impressed with not only the quality of their food, but also their understanding about gluten free options.
I ordered take out a few different dishes that included a vegetable combo as well as the doro wot and the zilbo gomen. We requested each dish to come with gluten free injera. The woman who took the order was kind enough to ask if I wanted all of the dishes to be gluten free. She even brought water for each of the members of my party while we waited.
The food was delicious and was enough to have leftovers for the next day. I highly recommend Lalibela!
