Went for Sunday brunch. Extremely limited GF options. Shared fryer and no gluten free bread. Not accommodating.

I've been to this restaurant multiple times in the past and had nothing but good experiences. They must have changed the kitchen staff because I was served gluten in my dish after being reassured by multiple staff that my dish did not contain gluten. The dish was marked as gluten free on their online allergy menu as well. It wasn't until my server came around after I had ate some of the dish and he let me know that my dish contained gluten. He told me that he let the kitchen know explicitly that my dish should be marked with an allergy and treated as such, but they did not do so. I'd highly advise against anyone with celiac dining here.

-they do not have managers bring out allergy marked food. they also do not have an allergy marker on dishes of any kind

-online menu had items marked gluten free, but their in person menu did not have this and staff had no idea what I was talking about when I mentioned it

I’ve been coming here for years when I come to DC. Never been glutened before, always had an amazing experience.

I haven’t been back since the start of the pandemic till last night.

Usually our servers are outstanding. Our server this time seemed very dismissive of my celiac issues and when I asked then double checked whether the fryer was still dedicated GF, he assured me it was.

I spent the night feverish (a symptom of being glutened) with acid reflux (another symptom of me getting glutened. I felt awful and barely slept.

I went back on Find Me GF and see another person reported their fryer isn’t GF anymore. I’m calling management today to report the server not taking my food allergy seriously.

Very dissatisfied with my experience. Spent a load of money to be sickened.

I do trust they can do GF but clearly stay away from the fryer and ask to speak to a manager as you can’t rely on your server to care or be knowledgeable.

No gluten free or allergen markings on the menu but staff is very helpful and checks with the kitchen as needed. Many items can be prepared gluten free.

The server was very confident in gluten-free items and navigating the menu. It was so busy when I was there so that worried me a bit. They don’t have a dedicated GF French fryer anymore so we can’t have anything fried. Bummer! BUT he helped me find several choices on the menu and everything was great.

The Staff where friendly and knew what contained gluten and didn’t. There are many items you can eat. If you can’t be near gluten, I would void this place. My wife didn’t get sick... but we dined like king’s and queens.

The staff answered my questions about separate fryers confidently and seemed to know how to avoid cross contamination.

I had the salmon, French fries (delicious) and the tuna carpaccio.

I had some symptoms the next day but am not sure this restaurant was the culprit. I will be back to try again.

This is hands down the easiest place I've found to eat in DC. I've never once felt a hint of cross contamination. The staff and kitchen are on point.

Went here for my birthday! I'm always nervous about going to a new place but the reviews were consistently good and celiac safe, so I went for it. I'm so glad I did!! I had the steak frites - the fryer is used only for these tasty fries - and my partner had a scallop dish. Everything was delicious! Our server, Arthur, was great - extremely knowledgeable and reassuring. We were so full we had to skip dessert, but Arthur brought out four mini almond flour tartlets with a candle for my birthday. So tasty!!! And, I felt fine (well, stuffed) afterwards. We will be back, no question!

I can't believe I waited so long to go here! I've been walking past this place for years but the gluten-filled nature of French food and the lack of GF markings on the menu made me hesitant to try it. I was amazed by the confidence and care with which they handle celiac guests. The manager was great on the phone when I made my reservation, answering all my questions, and when I walked in the door the host and server already knew about my gluten free needs. Plenty of options on the menu, including several desserts, and the server was well acquainted with the multi-layered allergen procedure to prevent cross-contamination. I went with the classic steak frites and shared 2 desserts - the creme brûlée and chocolate pot de creme. If you don't mind still being full the next day from the decadent food, this place is a must visit!

Le Diplomat is an amazing place. French food is not inherently gluten free but is by design decadent and delicious. The foie gras, beef tartar, seafood platter, steak with fries, and beef Borguinon are all Devine. The service is professional, courteous, and very knowledgeable about their food and allergies. Le Diplomat is the type of place where the service staff may not speak to the chef. They have to submit a request form through their managers, so when you ask about allergies no less than 3 people who are experts on the food will know about your question. While it is on the expensive end of the spectrum it is completely worth visiting, with a reservation if at all possible.

I told my server I have celiac disease and he immediately assured me the kitchen and staff are trained and ready to feed me and prevent cross contamination. It was very reassuring. I ordered the steak au poivre and he told me what was in the sauce and how the steak was prepared (cracked pepper crust) so I was informed and it was delicious! I will come back and feel taken care of. 💜

I have celiac and eat strictly gluten free. Work colleagues arranged reservations here. I called ahead and made many inquiries upon my arrival. Wait staff, manager and chef were all very helpful, familiar with celiac and accommodating gluten free needs. Enjoyed some delicious cheese, wine, a steak entree dish (I forget the name but it was wonderful with very little / no modification needed to the dish - something that made me feel safer as the kitchen was very busy that night) and even creme brûlée for dessert. There was another chocolate mousse / custard like dessert that was also gluten free and quite delicious. No ill reactions which is always a relief! I felt like I was in very good hands and greatly appreciated their efforts and concern to get it right! I wish they had a gluten free menu or even a statement on their website explaining how they are able to accommodate celiacs.
