Liks Ice Cream

Came here in the evening last summer and it was crazy busy. By the time we got through the line and in front of one of the many people working the counter I could tell that there were many cc issues (they were “cleaning” scoops by putting them in buckets of hot water with scoops from other ice creams) and I felt like it was too busy to ask them to open a whole new tub for me and go grab a freshly washed scoop. I also didn’t even know which flavors I could have because nothing was marked gf- just the name of the ice cream. I noticed a freezer of pre-scooped pints in the back and figured that was my best option so I asked the guy taking our order which of the flavors in there were gluten free. He responded, “ well our vegan flavors are…” and I said “no, not vegan, gluten free” to a confused expression and got a “I’m not sure…” It was at that point that I knew it wasn’t happening here tonight. My friend got her ice cream and we stopped at a Sprout’s grocery a few blocks away to pick up store bought ice cream for me.

It sounds like some people have had great experiences here but mine really sucked. I’m not sure if that only has to do with how busy it was, or if I was just talking to someone who was a new hire, but it was really sad not to be able to get anything. I saw that they did have gf sugar cones available on the counter.

Looked at the review from a year ago and it is still the same plus they have gluten free cones and don’t mind opening containers of ice cream if asked & cleaning hands & the utensils. This is a great “Mom & Pop” place during COVID-19. They also have prepackaged containers of their homemade ice cream I would recommend this place & they have a vegan ice cream plus sherbet & frozen yogurt

I stopped by to see if they had any gluten free features. There was very little info on the menu board and online. But I was able to get clean ice cream from the back with a clean scoop. And, honestly, as a celiac, I could care less as long as I don't get sick. And I didnt.
