My husband, daughter and I stopped into Little Italy when passing through Seneca Falls on our way back to Ithaca from a trip to Buffalo. My daughter and I are gluten sensitive and I saw online that Little Italy offered a GF pizza crust. We were hesitant to order, assuming it was Udi's (not our fave). However, we were very pleasantly surprised when the server brought a thin crusted pizza in a foil pizza pan with its own sturdy little plastic pizza cutter (which we were allowed to keep as the server said it came with the GF pizza "kit") and a separate serving spatula from that brought for my husband's regular pizza. The crust was not the typical crunchy, cracker-like-crisp crust but, rather a pillowy-soft, thin shell that was really delicious compared to the usual GF crust! We shared with our server how much we enjoyed our bacon ranch pizza and shortly thereafter the owner came out. He was wonderfully pleased with our feedback and shared with us that he has a grandchild with gluten issues so he is knowledgeable of the seriousness of the problem. He explained that he uses a GF pizza "kit", he does not use ingredients from the "line" but goes downstairs to open new containers of ingredients in order to eliminate the risk of cross contamination and he even cooks GF pizzas in a separate oven. This step seems above and beyond since the pizza comes in its own foil tray and is never, at anytime, removed from the tray. I'm pretty sure my husband's pizza was better that my daughter's and my GF pizza however, it was certainly better than any GF pizza we'd ever had out before! And, we knew we were safe from any possible gluten ramifications!! We enjoyed it so much, we all agreed it will be worth a nice drive to head back to Seneca Falls next time we get a craving for pizza! In addition, the Caesar salad (minus croutons) we shared was also delicious with very crisp and fresh romaine and just the right amount of Parmesan. Thank you Little Italy!!
