Went here for lunch for a friend’s birthday. Server was knowledgeable of cross contamination and shared quickly that their fries were coated in flour. Gluten-free bun for burger was excellent!

DO NOT GO HERE IF YOU HAVE ANY SERIOUS GLUTEN SENSITIVITY. My friend and I told our waiter multiple times that I have a gluten allergy (actually celiac) and he confirmed that everything on the burger I ordered was gluten-free. Yet just a few hours later, I was throwing up in my friend’s apartment. The only other food I’d eaten that day was from a dedicated gluten-free establishment, leaving Ruby’s as the only possible answer to what happened. Either they were wrong about what was in the burger or there was some significant cross-contact that they didn’t bother warning me about or seemed to care about. Definitely avoid.

I had a decent experience dining at Ruby’s Cafe. While the server was medium-knowledge about GF protocols (she warned me that the fries are cooked in a shared fryer), I think the restaurant actually overcorrected and left out parts of my entree that my server said was totally gluten-free “because of all of your allergies” (gluten is my only food intolerance!). Once I pointed it out though, they were happy to remedy the situation, and I feel fine after eating there. I’d go back, but be prepared to do some advocating. GF pasta & buns, but other GF items aren’t marked, so you have to ask!
