My wife and I both have a gluten allergy and were excited to hear another Mexican style restaurant was opening up locally. They labeled themselves "authentic". We ordered two chicken quesadillas on corn tortillas and then also a side of chips and pico. We were told it would be an hour and 15 minutes. No big deal, as I believe it is opening day (7/20/20). Our number was 16. We pulled in, a nice young lady came out to check on us, we told her our number she left to check on it. She came back and told us there was no #16 and asked what our order was. Again we told her two chicken quesadillas with a side of chips and pico. We also stressed we both had a gluten allergy. She left and came back with our order. We checked the bag (which was labeled #20) and saw the two side salads, one dressing, a small white bag with a handful (maybe 20) of chips and a container of pico. The second bag had the quesadillas. We checked the top one and saw it was corn and assumed the other followed suite. We drove home (25mins) only to discover the second container of quesadillas were made with flour tortillas. I understand this was part our fault for not checking both containers but I specifically mentioned twice that we both had a gluten allergy. It was also disappointing to see it cost us $37 for two quesadillas (three standard corn tortillas folded in half) and a handful of chips and salsa. The quesadilla we did try was good. It was very basic, cheese and chicken. Which worked for me, but did lack an authentic Mexican feel. I did not feel safe trying the chips, sadly. I was not assured they were fried separately or even corn. I ultimately had higher expectations for this place. But will try again. We will know in about 24 hrs if the food was cross contaminated. Will update if symptoms do occur.
