We sat down and instantly asked for a gluten free menu. The waiter was very helpful and made sure to ask the kitchen about some items when I had questions. They were out of my first choice so I ordered a burger without a bun. The kitchen added fried onions on top of the cheese and put fries on my plate. The server took it back and brought me one without gluten a few minutes later. The kitchen had just scrapped off the gluten and sent it back out. I was sick the rest of the day. We talked with the manager and she said she would educate her kitchen staff and servers because she knows it can be dangerous. I will not be back.

Did the seafood buffet, mainly for the crab legs. This is not a self-serve buffet. You tell them what you want they put it on your plate. I thought this would make it safer, but it’s NOT. I asked for a potato and the server took the tongs out of the breaded fish and used it to put potatoes on my plate!

Not much to choose from IMO and pricey. My 6 oz tenderloin while tender looked more like 4 oz which was annoying.

They did have a separate gf menu. More of a gluten friendly not gluten free place. Food good. Be prepared to pay $30-$35 per person no matter what you order.

It’s a buffet setup, but you can watch the chef cook, and they keep things separated to accommodate allergens like gluten and shellfish. The food itself is probably only 3 stars for taste, but the atmosphere, especially the ocean view, is probably worth an extra star.

While visiting SPI in April we searched for someplace that served gluten free items. When I called Louie’s I was told they would prepare me a gf dish of my choice. Upon arrival I told the waitress I had called & about eating gf. She said ok, excused herself & came back with a list of all the gluten free items on their all you can eat seafood bar!! In my 5 1/2 years with celiac disease, I have never been able to eat on the bar. It was a wonderful experience!! I highly recommend Louie’s for a fantastic, delicious eating experience, beautiful live music, as well as a relaxing sunset on the bay!! Thank you Louie’s!!

This is one of my favorite places to eat on the island. I am probably in here at least once a week. They do have a dedicated fryer for their fries. I love their Sunday/Thursday rib special. I also adore their burgers no bun. Prime Rib and surf and Turf are good too. I have never had a problem eating here. When I eat the Buffet, I avoid the self serve items for obvious reason and stick to the items that are served by staff. They do not have a GF menu, but if you have questions, the managers can always help.

Really mediocre food and service. Waitress had no idea what gluten was. I ate from the buffet. It was not great, especially being so expensive. I think this place is great if you want to hang out on the water and drink and party... That's about it.

We went on a busy day. Won't do that again. lucky, we didn't get sick. There were too many possibilities of cross contamination with the buffet. The chef advised us not to trust the sauces. I tried the buffet, but ended up just eating crab legs while kiddo ate dry ribs. The crab and the ribs were both delicious, and the crab didn't need butter or sauce. The ribs were delicious, but we would have liked sauce.

My daughter and I (both have gluten allergy) ate here while on vacation. My daughter had the pork chop with mashed potatoes and said it was really good!! I had the ribs with a baked potato and both were very good!! Jay, which I am assuming was the manager was very helpf and told the cooks to clean the grill before our food was cooked. I am very gluten sensitive and I did not get sick!! I would definitely recommend thid place!

Wow after calling just about every restaurant on the island to try to find one that had a gluten free menu we were about to give up and resort to yet another gluten free p and j sandwich. But alas! Louis Grill answered YES, I almost dropped the phone. By this time it was after 8 pm, but they said that as long as we got there by 9 they would serve us. However another table came in at 9:20 and they were seated so it looks like they were lenient on this.Service, unbelievable. The waiter was new so he went to check on the gluten free menu, found it and brought it to us. We asked another question though...and he needed to check on that...this time the chef came to our table. The difficulty was that we are obviously gluten free...but we also eat Biblically clean, and well..it is the island...and mostly seafood. After discussion it was decided the that buffet (when we were ready they walked over with us and pointed out the items that were not gluten free) with prime rib would be our best option even though the pork ribs, shrimp and seafood would not be eaten...who can turn down all you can eat prime rib! Well, my daughter can! sigh. When the chef heard that she didn't like prime rib he excused himself and next thing I know the manager and most of the crew that worked there were standing at our table! LOL, how do two girls with celiacs and a wheat allergy who eat biblically clean get this kind of attention. The manager asked if she likes chicken and offered to make her a grilled chicken breast if she wanted to eat the buffet. We humbly agreed...not used to service like this...ever!About the time we were finishing our salads out came her chicken breast...LOL...it was no kidding, the size of the plate, a beautifully grilled butterfly breast. But that was only part of it...this was slow grilled on hickory...yes...and ohhhh my, it was the best chicken I have ever eaten. Here I am eating prime rib...and LOL, wishing I had chicken. LOL. Mind you the prime rib was great! But this was unbelievable. When the manager came back around and we were talking it came up how good the chicken was and that I hoped she couldn't finish it so I could. Then he asked if I would like one too? oh my, before I could think I said I would love one...and off he went. Hmmm, but I had already eaten quite a bit, no matter, I was not going to let that chicken go to waste. This place is amazing. No making you feel second rate for your condition. No making you feel like a hassle. But even pre celiacs...I don't remember ever getting service like this.If you see this review and head out there...tell them the two girls who LOVEd the chicken sent you. :o)Oh and the service and food was so good I almost forgot to mention. They are located right on the water, seating is outside, or inside your choice they also have a bar. The atmosphere is so welcoming. We will definitely be back.
