My mom and daughter decided they wanted Italian... so I figured I would be stuck with rabbit food. I sat there looking at the menu, pouting, trying to find ANYTHING but salad. So I started asking questions about a chicken dish, and once I said I had celiac disease, the waitress said my favorite words, “would you like our gluten free menu?”OH LAWDY, PRAISE JESUS, HALLELUJAH My daughter actually said my face lit up like the Christmas tree in New York City on Christmas night...Italian food... the very bane of my existence... the reason why I cry at night, the reason why I am never fulfilled! And it isn’t the crappy stuff at Olive Garden! She sets the menu in front of me, very first on the list, shining bright like a diamond, was fettuccine alfredo... LIGHTNING STRIKE ME NOWI order, and I KNOW I am going to get sick... I mean, an Italian restaurant that is gluten safe... psshhhhh that’s not happening. Our waitress comes back, and starts talking to me. It turns out that her ex has celiacs... she starts telling me about all the little hole in the walls with great menus.I pretty much want to cry, I am pretty sure I will be safe at this point! She brings out our food, at first with only my plate. She tells me she doesn’t want to bring my food out with the breaddy (yes actually used the term breaddy) stuff. When she arrives with the French bread, and my mom, and daughters food, she asks me to lift my plate so no crumbs can fall in. By this point I think I am awful close to crying. Now I haven’t had really good fett in a really long time, well, fett that I haven’t painstakingly slaved over. I look down and it looks like a teeny tiny portion... but looks were definitely deceiving. This bowl was DEEEEEEEEP! I ate all of it. Every last bit. I hugged our waitress, and proceeded to waddle out of there, and it was because I was stuffed, not because I got glutened. The g free fett was 10 bucks, and I added chicken for an additional 5. Please, if you are g free... go here! Before they decide that keeping a gluten free line is just not with it!
