My Celiac wife ate a burger and fries with no issues. Very educated staff made us all feel confident. I had great shrimp, flounder, cocktails and dessert. Fabulous selection, comfortable ambience, and fair prices. We look forward to returning. Thank you, Madisons!

Always a fabulous meal and great service! Have visited several times... always great choices. I'm gluten sensitive, and almost everything is made gluten free... however, it is fabulous for EVERYONE! My all time favorite are the fried green tomatoes. Comes with pimento cheese, a yummy red sauce and balsamic vinegar... don't miss it. My hubby likes it and he HATES tomatoes... Ha! Cute cottage atmosphere with a side porch. Most everything made to order. Has a small separate neighborhood type bar. Parking is a bit tight, but it somehow works... Highly recommend!

This restaurant is amazing! The waitress was super knowledgeable about what was gluten free, which was everything but hushpuppies. They have substitutions for pasta and bread. The food is delicious and portion sizes are great.

This place did have GF and I had no reaction. I ordered a basket which only had one small piece of fish and 4 shrimp and a ton of fries. The calamari was good though.

We had a wonderful dinner. Highly recommend if celiac. Owner son has celiac so they understand. Dedicated fryer (his puppies have their own fryer). Use rice flour for almost everything. We had fried green tomato capers and it was amazing. We also had crab cakes that were so good! Super excited to have a safe place to eat. My mom and I both have celiac and we both are home now and feeling good.

Best experience I’ve had in the 20 years since diagnosis. Seafood, steaks, great sides. The only thing I couldn’t eat was the hush puppies.

Two words: Fried Seafood!! Holy cow this was delicious! Their seafood is fried using rice flour and it was seriously amazing. I honestly can’t remember when I last had fried seafood let alone a crab cake! The atmosphere is laid back and everyone was very friendly. We will definitely be back next time we are in the area.

We ate here with our son who has Celiac. The food was delicious and there were so many tasty gluten free options. My son got the grilled cheese and absolutely loved it. We will definitely be back!

After reading through the reviews here I was hopeful it would be a great midway lunch point between Hilton Head and Charleston. Unfortunately, my family had a very disappointing experience.
When our server (new) was unsure about gluten free options we spoke to another employee. He didn’t identify himself as a manager, but seemed to be in a similar role. He told us everything except bread and pasta was GF. My children and I are of various sensitivities, and we asked them to use caution for us.
I had the crab/artichoke dip with chips and a wedge salad with fried oysters. The dip was delicious! The wedge salad was not an iceberg salad at all, but soft romaine. The oysters were underwhelming and poorly cooked/seasoned. I was sick soon after the meal concluded.
Both of my children had the chicken nuggets and fries. They did not like the chicken, as it was rubbery and poorly seasoned. The fries were fine, and neither child got sick.
Aside from our gluten issues, the bathrooms were filthy and stank of urine. There seemed to be a tension among the employees, and it appeared they were arguing among themselves throughout our visit. We will likely not return.

Wanted to share that while just about everything on their menu is gf except hush puppies, pasta, and bread, I do want to warn people that they shared with me that the hush puppies are occasionally fried with their other gluten free fried items. That therefore allows the fried gf items to be cross contaminated. If you have celiac I highly recommend to not order anything fried. With that said, I did order some grilled items and they were delicious and did not make me sick. The manager brought my food out separately as well which was nice.

Excellent dining experience! The pasta, bread, and hush puppies were the only things not GF. Our server (Cody) was very knowledgeable about gluten and the menu. Food was fantastic! My daughter had her first taste of fried shrimp and loved it. We will be back!

Fun, friendly staff and environment. Separate fryer so the hand cut fries, sweet potato fries and such are a treat! Nothing fancy, but drove 45 minutes each night to come here when I was in the area based on how good my experience was….

Waitress was very knowledgeable about celiac and told that the entire menu except hush puppies, pasta and key lime pie are GF. GF bread is available for sandwiches. Fried food is breaded in rice flour. Dedicated fryer for gluten free food. I felt very comfortable ordering, and my celiac son and I enjoyed our meal very much!

Much of the menu is GF. They use a separate fryer for anything that is not GF and use rice flour for a batter. I had a fried shrimp basket, fries and slaw! I can’t remember the last time I had anything fried!! It was delicious as were the fries! My husband had the fried shrimp and scallop basket and said that it was so good he would go back. Worth the trip. Make reservations for dinner!!

My go-to restaurant for gluten free lunch and dinner! Fried seafood and soups are safe, gluten free bread options for sandwiches. We need more restaurants like this!

Well, I do not normally do reviews. I will read them and take all the positive and negatives with a grain of salt. I can’t in good conscience walk away from our dinner this evening without leaving a review. Dinner was excellent. Nearly everything on the menu is gluten-free. This made our evening wonderful. Service was excellent and the staff was so nice and extremely friendly. Simply put, five stars. Wonderful experience. If anymore of our children become Marines, we are coming back.
I have been here a few times now and the food is great. The server has been able to explain the options for me or modifications. The fried green tomatoes were good and I don’t eat those normally. They use rice flour for the fried fish and so I was able to eat that which is very rare. The FF are safe also. I didn’t care for the GF brownie a lot but it was fine.
Yes
This place is the real deal! Celiac safe and delicious. They use rice flour for most items & have a dedicated frier. I had fried shrimp & fried green tomatoes for the first time in YEARs. So happy we found it. Some restaurants in Beaufort clime to be celiac safe, one I know of claims a celiac owner... but we’ve gotten sick at all of them. Not the case here... great food, tones of safe options.
Yes
My daughter and I have Celiac Disease. We have eaten here for the past two nights. It’s a Celiac’s heaven. The fried shrimp and oysters are amazingly delicious!
Great place! If you have celiac disease this is the place to go. The list of items that aren't gluten free is shorter than the menu items that are gf. We all had some version of seafood and it was all delicious! Staff was knowledgeable and friendly. We will be back!
Absolutely awesome!!!! So great to have a wide variety of items available and they were all delicious! Hush puppies are NOT gluten free but you can have all the fried seafood you want. They also offer Udi’s bread

This place is a celiac's dream. Almost everything on the menu is gluten free. Even the fried seafood is made with rice flour. I have eaten here 4 times already and have had a different amazing dish each time. I highly recommend it!
This place was such an unexpected find! All their fried foods are gluten free and made with rice flour. We had a seafood platter with fries, fried green tomatoes, and raw oysters. Everything was delicious (the batter on everything is thin and crispy) and the server put the words gluten allergy on every item so the kitchen changed gloves. They said the only actual gluten in the kitchen is from bread and that’s all put together in one spot. Excellent food, felt safe, did not get glutened and I am extremely sensitive. Will be back!!

Celiac approved!! Cody (ask for him by name) shook our hands at the door and his awesome first impression carried on throughout our meal. He was knowledgeable about the menu (which is naturally 95% GF thanks to separate fryers and a rice/corn flour combo instead of wheat) and ensured the kitchen knew I was Celiac as well. The food...no words. I cannot believe we just now found this gem. Best food in Beaufort County, hands down. The fact that I could comfortably eat here was priceless but the highlight was the brilliant service we received from Cody, the extensive and delicious menu and the obvious experience in the kitchen!! Our new favorite. Bravo, Madison’s!!!!

We love this amazing restaurant! Everything fried is GF as it’s either tossed in rice flour or corn flour. Fried shrimps or calamari - what a treat! One time when I was here they had baked fresh gf dinner rolls and they were amazing. Staff are all extremely helpful and knowledgeable and whilst they don’t offer vegan cheese we were easily able to choose from many meals for my child who can not tolerate dairy or gluten. Definitely recommend!
