We went to Maggie McFly's in Brookfield on June 16th 2022 because after much research, it seemed safe and they had many GF options. It was our first restaurant since my 9 year old daughter was diagnosed 8 months ago. I informed our waiter that my daughter has celiac disease. They told me they have many gluten-free options for her, so we were very excited to try. Upon ordering her gluten-free chicken tenders and Fries I verified that it was made in a separate area and was cooked in a separate fryer. I also handed them our equal eats celiac disease sticky note to remind them to change their gloves and be extra careful. Unfortunately when her food arrived the chicken tenders tested positive for gluten with our Nima partners sensor. The fries tested safe, and they were both fried in the same fryer...so it had to be a cross contamination.

The waiter and manager were very friendly and apologetic. They offered to make her a hamburger in a seperate pan. Unfortunately that tested positive for gluten too! The manager was stunned and said it must be cross contamination in the plate area since the fries were served in a cup not a plate. He had no idea that flour can remain airborne for quite a while and he did say they use wheat flour in the kitchen.

Anyway, we went home with a very hungry 9 year old and a realization that we ell only eat out at dedicated gluten free restaurants.
