We stopped by after seeing the Jose andres documentary the night before. We spoke to the hostess at Mercado which has nice open air seating when it’s nice out, and she said that the cross contamination is real so that’s not the place to go. Very knowledgeable and understanding.
We checked out Mar and asked the staff if they can accommodate a celiac. We all did lots of double checking and the staff spoke to the kitchen who said it’s good to go
We sat down and ordered 5 tapas plates and they were very clear what they could offer me. We got a bottle of wine and it was great. We had the mussels, Gambia, hake, octopus and prawn. It wasn’t cheap but it was delicious. They even gave my companion a side of bread for her to dip on her plate.
Great staff, great food. We even had dessert. I had the cheesecake and she had the flan like dessert.
Highly recommend. And thanks to Cesar for a great experience
Fyi. There are several kitchens in Little Spain. The one that handles Mar can accommodate celiacs. We were told the paella place can accommodate gf but will explore next time
