Horrible service! Had the pizza burnt twice and was told, "it's GF what do you expect." Then had the manager yell at us for being upset that it had been burnt twice, even though we'd waited for almost an hour and a half and had only seen our server twice all night. Because I was so hungry had a slice & of course got sick because of cross-contamination. I've never had these many problems at any Mellow Mushrooms!!
They have a decent crust using Smart flour. I have not had a reaction anytime we have a pizza from Mellow Mushroom but the price keeps us from going there. Waayyyy too expensive.
Good pizza. Though I was unsure at first that they understood cross contamination, they did a great job.
Nice atmosphere. Employees had no clue about a gluten free menu. They all just parroted back that the only gf pizza was the medium size. Crust was soggy. 19.50 for a med pizza.
Awesome gluten free pizzas!!
All salad dressings are GF!!! Staff is knowledgeable. Very good service and bartender took extra precautions. Of course the GF pizza is great and medium sized, so I always end up taking some home. Love this place and will continue to go regularly!
Such a cool, funky atmosphere! The staff was beyond friendly and helpful. They have many GF options but were very clear that because 2 of us had Celiac, we should limit our choices to the pizza. No problem with that, LOTS of combinations. The whole experience was delightful, and hours later we are feeling completely fine...not glutened! :)
Ate here the other night after convincing the boyfriend to try it with me. The server not only offered to re-clean the table upon hearing that we were going to be ordering gf. But even asked how severe my reaction may be with cross contamination. Was pretty impressed with that and him not treating me like another fad-dieter. He took it seriously. Upon reassuring him that I wouldn't die, just get sick later on. We ordered our pizza. Now we got the gf, dairy free (Daiya cheese is offered here since I also happen to have a dairy intolerance) Didn't get sick later, much to my surprise. It is a pizza place after all so I was skeptical. At this particular location they have a separate area that it is prepared in according to the menu in store as well as their online gf menu. Reading their online gf menu before we went, they seem to be more responsible than most restaurants around me are which was nice.
Service was great. Pizza was good but not great. I was hoping for better crust on it. The crust was really thin and soggy in the middle (although I like and am used to the thin gluten free crust). It was one of the better gluten free pizzas I've had, that's for sure, just was hoping for a bit better crust from a place that was rated 5 stars.
Although they have a gluten free crust, they do a lousy job of avoiding cross-contamination. My daughter became extremely ill after eating one of "gluten-free" pizzas. As usual when eating something containing wheat, she was sick for three days. We definitely will not be going back to this location.
I have celiac. I took a chance on pizza my first night in Charleston. The waitress assured me it was gluten free. I thought for sure I would be sick. I was very pleased when I was not. I made sure to tell them I was celiac and they delivered a clean gluten free pizza. Safe for me!
My celiac daughter has never gotten sick and we have eaten here a few times. Gf pizza is really tasty, too
The GF and DF (no cheese, fake or real) pizza I ordered did not cause an adverse reaction but the bill did cause great concern. After reading other reviews upon returning home, it turns out I'm not the only one who was surprised when they received their bill. The pizza itself starts at $12.00 and then you get charged for each ingredient! 1.79 to at least 2.79. There are no prices listed nor an explanation of their price structure. Who knows if any ingredients are free and I won't ever find out because I won't be going back. I'm sure this menu is not the choice of this restaurant as this is a chain so complaining to the waiter would do no good. Even if one accounts for my very specific dietary concerns, an explanation of how a customer gets charged should be laid out. Maybe I would get charged less if I could eat dairy!
Excellent gluten free pizza!! Staff was very knowledgeable and asked if it was an allergy or preference. I explained that it was an allergy and waitress informed me that my pizza would be cooked in a spectate area. I ate the house special. I asked the waitress about what type of crust they buy and she explained that they make the gluten free crust themselves in a separate kitchen, along with making and baking my pizza.
They are very gf accommodating, I just don't really like their pizza. IMO the crust is thin and hard and the toppings are "fresh" to the point of being undercooked.
My new favorite gluten free pizza, hands down! It tastes like the real thing and the toppings are soo stinking good! Reminds me of Dewey's, BC (before celiac). Other franchise locations get mixed reviews because of the thin crust and toppings being skimpy but the Cincy location is absolutely exceptional! The fine print at the bottom of the menu explains their process in avoiding cross contamination which isn't something I've seen before and is so very appreciated. Love it & will order again!
