Mimi's Peruvian Cuisine

I went in, sat down, discussed their menu and then left without eating because I was too concerned about their knowledge about gluten. The lady working there said almost everything on the menu is gluten free, except the rice. We asked what they put in their rice to make it not gluten free. She said only water and salt. We continued to discuss this because rice is gluten free. She was hung up on rice containing gluten and she has never seen a rice without gluten. After our discussion I realized I don’t think she knows what gluten is or what it is in. I left because I was scared to get sick.

Charming Peruvian restaurant with lovely staff and of course Mimi. Very accommodating and aware of gluten and dairy as well as other food allergies, able to prepare most of their meals custom to anyone’s needs and if called in advance can do almost all of their main courses to accommodate gluten allergy. Good portions and the best ceviche I’ve had in a long time, I closed my eyes and I was back in Miraflores. Took the leftovers home to my 5 yo daughter who loved them and said “you should make this every day Daddy!”
