Review of Momoya SoHo

47 Prince St, New York, NY 10012

Review

Momoya has a decent selection of gluten free items listed on the menu but our waiter insisted the only actually safe food on the menu was sushi. Attempting to order Bluefin Toro Tartare and the hamachi dish turned into a strange argument as the waiter insisted these dishes were not gluten free because of the soy even though they were listed as gluten free on the menu.

For dessert we had Jasmine Tea Brûlée and Coupe Glacee. Both were delicious but I am unconvinced the Coupe Glacee was gluten free. The first bite I took was that of a green tea cookie, which a waiter assured me was safe and insisted it was white chocolate. A second waiter, not knowing the situation, randomly started insisting everything was fine, too.

Overall, the food was delicious but having gotten sick afterwards I’m not sure I’d go back.
