I see that this is the #1 rated GF Mexican restaurant. I went there twice in about a month. The first time it was great. The second time I ordered the exact same meal and I ended up going to the ER via ambulance later that night.

All I can think is that I was served flour instead of corn tortillas. I was with a new friend and was nonstop talking so I didn’t study them. However, they make their tortillas so it is not as easy to tell the difference.

About 90 minutes later, when it usually happens to me, I began vomiting. It was the worst attack that I have had. I finally realized that I need the ER but then was too much in pain to move.

In the flip side, I received excellent care from the Irvington Volunteer Fire Department and the Methodist ER. I didn’t know that there was a clock in the ambulance that the patient can see. I was rolled into the ambulance at 10:00, got to Methodist at 10:30 and was discharged at 12:05. Two anti-nausea meds, a bag of fluids, and two giant potassium pills given swiftly.

They also sent me home with a prescription of Zofran which I now carry with me everywhere.

I write this as a caution. You can never be too careful. If you get as sick as I do, be more careful than I was that night. Do not rely on past experience. I ordered the same meal, was vocal about my celiac diagnosis, but did not study my meal when I received it.

I need to go down and talk with the Manager to let him know what happened. I just rarely eat out and I got busy. This has reminded me to do that.
