Nathan's Noodles

Stay away from Pad See Ew noodles. Maybe also oyster sauce (to be safe). The soy sauce they cook with is GF.

I ordered here tonight for the first time in a while. I’m celiac. I called and asked if Pad See Ew could be done GF. I got the most unclear answer in broken English. “Some can eat it, some can’t.” I was told the soy sauce is GF. They asked if I could have oyster sauce. I asked if there was gluten in it. They didn’t know. I’m guessing it’s safe. I asked about the noodles (wide), they weren’t clear, but they said they could use the pad Thai rice noodles instead. Ok good. They asked me if I could have corn starch. Yes so I ordered.

It was 100% delicious. Didn’t get sick.

It’s a bit of a gamble...not recommended for celiac’s. Next time maybe I’ll try the wide noodles but there’s a 50-50 shot I’ll be barfing all night long. It might be worth knowing.

Update: I went back and got Pad See Ew. When ordering, I asked again, are the noodles GF and they said they are wide rice noodles. That answer satisfied me. She said “can you have the oyster sauce.” I’ve had it there before with no reaction so I said I think I could. They offered to make it without the oyster sauce. It’s like they thought there was gluten in it. I told them it was ok. A couple hours later I had a bad reaction and was puking. I’m sure the noodles were the culprit, but probably will avoid oyster sauce as well. I recommend their pad Thai which has regular GF rice noodles and no oyster sauce.
