Review of Neighborhood JAM

I ordered The Heap and bacon to share, along with The Third Wheel pancakes off of the gluten free menu and I had a reaction by the time I got home. With all the various ingredients (especially in The Heap), something was bound to get cross contaminated.

I had read all of the reviews on here and was so very looking forward to trusting a rare meal out so I was really disappointed. I even mentioned that the waitress seemed a little too casual about it when I shared my “allergy” with her. I chalked it up to her just being confident in their process.

The reason I still gave it 3 stars is because it was the best breakfast I can remember having (gf or not), the gf menu was expansive, the staff and vibe were great, and I do believe it was a matter of cross contamination.

I will probably give it one more try and will likely stick to something with fewer ingredients (like just the regular pancakes and maybe eggs) and will have a longer conversation about gf, being sure to mention this experience. I normally don’t give places a second chance but this one seems worth it.
