Have been here few times. I was assured everything was made in house so they have a good grasp on there ingredients. Unlike big chain places who have no clue whats in there food. The BBQ is always good. The sides could use some real work though. At most they are "eh ok". The baked beans are ok. The coleslaw always seems a small bit off and limp like maybe its been left out rather than kept cold. Or since coleslaw is just one of those foods that just doesn't keep, it may be a day old. The potato salad is just not to my taste at all. I would love to see this revamped completely . Its a good little place. looks like its run by all guys. They are all very friendly and helpful. Even when asking Gluten free questions with a long line and a phone ringing off the hook.
WOULD LIKE TO SEE:
better sides
sweet potato fries
a bit more cleaning
the tables fixed so they dont rock
the tea in closed containers
Desert. As much as I know it wont be gluten free its easy to add chocolate chip cookies or banana pudding /rice pudding cups to the menu
Yes
I learned about this place on social media. The only items not gluten free in restaurant are cornbread and buns for sandwiches, and kids menu chicken nuggets. They have smoked beef brisket, pulled pork, ribs, chicken, sandwich options, French fries (fried in soybean oil but have since learned they use same fryer for kids menu chicken nuggets which makes fries not gluten free due to cross contamination), cole slaw, pea salad, potato salad, baked beans, etc. They also offer daily specials like pulled pork taco Thursday on corn tortilla, rib tips Monday and Friday, etc. I'm not sure how many sauces offered but I'm aware of sweet, hot, and spicy option. I spoke extensively with owner and his son and decided on beef brisket, coleslaw and fries. Have since tried the pork. All were great!! I've been craving good restaurant BBQ for years and finally found a local celiac friendly place! I learned Everything is made in house. This restaurant is counter service and was quick to serve. Some on social media site compared it to good Texas BBQ. I've never been to Texas so wouldn't know that, just know brisket and pulled pork was tender, moist, and good smoke flavor. Fries were crispy. Coleslaw was a bit sweet as I prefer, potato salad was different taste but good, and sweet sauce has a kick but was great! If you're celiac and craving BBQ, give this place a try. They've been in business nearly 9 years, which is impressive for a LaPorte restaurant. Oh, and I was told all spices used are gluten free as well. If concerned about cross contamination, Id stay away from fries.
