I told the waiter I had celiac disease and told him my food had to be gluten free and not touch gluten either. I asked if the pot could be clean and the pasta be cooked in fresh water. He checked with the cook and said yes. He wrote on the order that I had a gluten allergy. However, my gluten free pasta had a gluten spaghetti noodle in it. Not good for those that are sensitive.

I’ve been a few times and the waiters are knowledgeable; also helps to know what to ask. I’ve had the porterhouse, mashed potatoes, Dungeness crab Louie salad, braised short ribs (without crispy shallots), and Joe’s sundae. Delicious and I didn’t have a reaction. Cocktails are good too. Very busy place so make reservations weeks in advance. The clam chowder does have flour, so it’s not safe.

Upscale American menu. I emailed weeks before my travel to CA from NJ. Manager sent very positive response, and despite Father's Day crowds, I found staff very informed and accommodating. Many items on menu can be made gf. They carry gf pasta. I have celiac. It's hard finding gf-friendly restaurants in Daly City area. Glad Joe's reopened.
