We stopped for dinner today since we always hear how great Outback is for GF.. Wow not a winner at this location, the staff was clueless, didn't help that the manager was MIA when I asked to speak to someone w/seniority that had a clue. I was telling the server based on the online gf menu how he needed to modify my meal... In the middle of my meal, while eating the waiter came over to ask how my food was, and what would really happen if something was prepped wrong... glad he wanted to know, but made me nervous, food wasn't that great.
We have been there twice. The first time Aussie fries were on the same plate as the "GF" burger (Aussie Fries are clearly marked as NOT GF on menu). When we commented to waitress she looked shocked and said "but the burger doesn't have a bun". She didn't have a clue. We talked to management and they apologized. This week we thought we would give them another try and the "GF" burger arrived with a bun. The waiter offered to remove the bun. Obviously they don't have a clue about being gluten free and cross contamination issues. We left without eating and will not be returning.
Nice that they have a GF menu. My steak was good but the potato (home style mashed) were super salty. Wish they had some type of GR bread. It took a while to get our food-it was busy-and the other members of my party had 2 loaves of the outback bread while waiting. It would be nice if they offered a GF option.
It's pretty much the same as any other Outback, but the waitress was really friendly and I had no gluten issues. I ordered the chicken on the barbie with a baked potato and house salad (no croutons of course). I just hope Outback eventually starts carrying GF bread.
Had lunch there today - the staff was super-they we very happy to take care of me GF order. They are flexible and will work with you on custom requests. I normally get the wedge salad and substitute GF ranch and add blue cheese crumbles which are on other items. But, the staff were standouts. Them made my meal very nice, really wanting to give me a great GF meal. 👏
We had a great meal and was impressed with the amount of GF options available, they have an extensive separate GF menu. Megan, our server was very good, she went out of her way to answer our questions and even went back to the kitchen (more then once) to talk to the chefs. We were able to get the shrimp on the barbie that was not on the GF menu. I had the grilled salmon and my boyfriend had the Porter house and with the pecan brownie for dessert. Error, the manager even came over and spoke with us.
This location is closed, as in torn down.
The food tasted good but I believe they gave me a steak that was from the full menu and not the gf menu. Normally I pick up on seasonings that are suspicious but I did not and ate it without question. I was sick for 10 days. If ever I go back I will be more proactive.
Told the server I had allergies and she didn't write down anything or seem to care. My salad came back with crouton crumbs twice. I didn't want to send it back again so my husband ate it and I went hungry. I am not going back. I have had similar experiences here in the past and do not think they are celiac friendly or allergen friendly in general.
Teresa, the owner, always makes sure my wife's gluten-free dinner is handled properly in the kitchen. She even takes time to make sure her salad is made special to avoid cross-contamination.
They provide a celiac menu (available online if you want to look ahead). We asked for BBQ sauce and bacon bits after the fact. I was worried these might get us sick, but either the waiter remembered or they were GF already. Either way, this was a good dining experience for us.
I love eating here. I have been here dozens of times and have never been disappointed. They have a huge menu for gluten free including a volcano flourless cake. I highly recommend it for any of my fellow celiac's.
I love Outback because they take Celiac seriously and offer safe gluten free options. The food is consistently good, the drinks are a healthy pour, and the staff is always accommodating and fun. I highly recommend Outback for a safe dining experience.
Outback is pretty much what you would expect from a chain restaurant with gluten free options. They have a decent small selection. The food is okay and they try to make sure your food is safe. Can't complain.
I've eaten he many times and enjoy it. My son and i, both celiac, will share a filet and add a later tail. Not cheap but very good. I would have given 5 stars except I recently ate at a Saltgrass steakhouse and they were just as good bit had GF bread. So Saltgrass gets the 5th star. If only the was one in North Garland ...
Server was knowledgeable about celiac.
Outback Steakhouse got a less than stellar rating from me because the my meal was very Spartan and bland. The presentation had a "here's what your ordered" feel without any effort to dress up the plate with gluten free options like cut fruit or melon. I ordered the filet and received a filet on a plate with a few sprigs of Broccoli.
