Food is good but they dropped a piece of Oreo on my desert. I was very disappointed and not quiet ready to go back any time soon.
VERY accommodating! So far no one is sick. I love the amount of options plus even a dessert! So far no one is sick! The GF menu tells you what to say to the server when ordering (with or without seasoning) and they make all the food separately. Plus the server was very knowledgable. I'm so glad we found another place to eat out.
good eats, helpful and knowledgeable staff.
I recommend the Bremerton, WA, Hwy 303 Outback. I did NOT get sick here. Reading other reviews, I can see this varies greatly with location, but in this case, it was a good experience. They accommodated my GF and dairy free request cheerfully. Both management and staff were professional, personable, and knowledgeable about GF and cross-contamination. A manager oversees the preparation of any meal when a food allergy/sensitivity is involved, and they assure me they use a separate prep area. I'm not a chain restaurant kind of person, but wanted to be safe. I had a simple, decent meal with a nicely cooked piece of fish, steamed vegetables, and a baked potato, with olive oil and wine vinegar, and I didn't have to suffer for it afterward. The only mistake they made was to put containers of gluten-containing dressing literally on the side of the plate of the appetizer we were sharing. Some of the contents slopped out onto the food. But they were very receptive to my explanation of why this is not okay and suggestion that they always serve the dressings on a separate plate in future. Everything else was very well done. Note: they do not have a designated fryer.
Ordered the 6oz Outback Special with the Baked Potato ... got so sick within 30 minutes of leaving (the time it took to get from here to Memorial City Mall), had to skip out on a movie and go back home after a bad reaction. So disappointed. Never again. I put "no" under celiac friendly, because while they DO have a GF menu, they really don't care if you're GF or not.
Wide and varied menu with a lot of GF options- Staff was very pleasant and gluten aware- however, I am extremely sensitive to cross contamination and was glutened despite their best efforts- if you can handle minute amounts of gluten, you will be fine; however if you cannot tolerate any gluten whatsoever, you may want to try other options.
Staff are very knowledgable and provide a GF menu upon request that is very helpful when ordering. Be careful with salad dressings, sometimes the staff mixes up the GF and non-GF. Refer to menu for substitutions. So far I have eaten here several times without incident. I love the brownie dessert also. Don't miss out!
Outback in general does a great job with gluten free. I'm a celiac, and have eaten at this location several times, and have not been sick once.
After grilling the waitress, I can tell you that the following seems to be regular practice: gluten free food is prepped in separate area, separate containers of butter are used, grill space is separate or cleaned prior to cooking. I had a complicated order, which came out exactly right and was delicious as well. A good experience.
Ate dinner here 7/15/14 as a to go order. Told them whole meal was gluten free. Guy called me back and asked again after I placed order if the whole meal was gluten free I said yes I am allergic to gluten. 4 hours later I am sick as a dog and have to fly out at 3am in the morning. So angry for the blatant neglect of keeping things gluten free. Not to mention I called and complained once because my salad that I ordered with my meal was completely rotten and inedible. Definitely not worth the price or pain I am paying now.
This location is pretty sub-standard. I was really unimpressed when my fiancé and I ordered the prime rib to split and ended up getting the heel end of it that didn't even have any filet on it. And we ordered the largest size! As for gluten-free it's like any other chain Outback: decent selection, but the quality just isn't there at this one.
Very nice. Manager assured me what I could eat. They don't have a dedicated fryer but I like their baked potatoes better.
I love my local Outback. They are fabulous about dealing with allergy & gluten issues, including making dessert substitutions when I can't eat what's offered with a deal (which they absolutely don't have to do by policy, so I think it rocks that they do). If something is wrong (like a steak being the wrong temp), 99% of the time, a manager brings the food out to check on you & make sure it's correct. I think I've had 1 unfriendly server there (which is pretty amazing these days at most places), and I love the management team. Overall, the store is always very clean (though I'd love to see them do away with the air freshener in the bathroom because it can be cloying & it makes it tricky to breathe inside). The reason I'm not giving them 5 stars is because of something another review points out: the lack of the GF fryer. They had one, and they had amazing fries. I frequently bragged to people that our Outback had gone above & beyond corporate's GF menu & had purchased a GF fryer out of their store budget. Unfortunately, it broke earlier this year, and as of a couple of weeks ago they still had not replaced it. I understand that it is an extra expense, but I was truly hoping they'd replace it. That fryer was often the deciding factor for us if we were debating between a couple of restaurants, because it was one of the few places I could get fries. Since they've not replaced it, we've not eaten there as often as we had in the past, because some of the point of spending the extra money to go to the nicer restaurant was so I could have something I really miss. Given how amazing the store is with allergen info & avoiding cross-contamination, I highly recommend going. The GF menu is pretty impressive, and the food is always great. I'd be back to giving them 5 stars again if they would replace that fryer.
LOVE THIS PLACE. They have an excellent gluten free menu and their staff really GET it. My husband and I eat here often and I have never had an issue with cross contamination. Their dessert brownie is even naturally gluten free and incredibly tasty.
Mixed up my order three times. First gave me a side salad salad with a random piece of chicken in it. Then they gave me a dinner with gluten-filled rice. When I pointed out their mistake, they removed the rice and have me the same fish and veggies hat were already contaminated with gluten. The chefs and waiters obviously had no idea what celiac means. I love Outback, but was not impressed with this location!
Um yum! Everytime we go here I have no problems with ordering or with my food. We have always loved Outback. Their food is really, really good. I'm able to order a wide variety of things. The waiters always know how to work with me when I come in. It's a fantastic place.
I've eaten at a number of Outback restaurants, and have had positive experiences at all of them, but this Outback goes above and beyond. The manager personally brings out the food and all the staff seem to be very familiar with celiac and cross contamination issues. Would highly recommend!
It's ok in an absolute pinch, but...while they have a gluten free menu, they don't seem that educated about it and the manager was rude after I asked for no seasonings on my steamed veggies. (He came out to the table and asked in a very rude tone of voice if I could have salt and pepper bc that was what they meant by seasoned veggies. I can but I can also add that myself)
Went for my birthday and got the filet, a 1/3 side of ribs, baked potato, chopped salad and the pecan brownie sundae for dessert and everything was AMAZING!!!! I have Celiac Disease and had no reaction after eating. PERFECT!!! Will be back many more times for sure!
Went there while on a road trip. Was not offered GF menu even after I told them that I had celiac and needed gluten free meal. Waiter made appropriate suggestions and seemed somewhat knowledgeable. Suggested no seasoning on green beans and meat on wood fired grill. I asked for my baked potato to not be cut open and for butter to be from an unused container. The steak came out essentially rare and had to be sent back, the potato came out cut and had to be sent back for a new one and the condiments came out with all of the fixings for the backed potato so I just ate the backed potato plain. At the end of the meal, the waiter told me that they had a gluten free menu that I could look at for desert. I wish that he would have told me that they had the menu at the beginning of the meal. I say that they are celiac friendly because they did seem somewhat knowledgeable but I would bet that it is hit or miss here from my experience so I would use extra caution.
I had an outstanding meal here with great service. The GF menu was extensive with lots of variety, and our server was well versed in celiac disease. She took great care when taking my order and delivering the meal. I highly recommend this restaurant and would definitely return!
Hit or miss. They brought out salad with croutons, fixed that, and then brought steak with bread on plate. When I asked to speak with manager, the waitress said she informed manager of gf allergy while turning in my order, and that she said she would ensure it was right. Manager sarcastically apologized for mishaps by giving me coupon for breaded appetizer. Few years later, I went with friends to have a drink. Same manager surprised me when she came up to me at bar, placed basket of bread on top of a gf menu, and mentioned excitingly about new items on it. I stated I am only having drink. She said she remembered me, felt bad, and offered free beer. I avoided place for a year and then tried again. Service was good, food was properly prepared, and no reaction. I've gone quite a few times since then and happy it's gotten better, yet it depends on who is working.
This location is particularly knowledgeable and courteous about gf options. They are trained extremely well and go out of their way to make everything at ease and perfect. I only gave 4 stars because I wish they would add a gf bread and remove the gluten seasoning from the vegetable choices.
I've eaten at this chain before and have never had an adverse reaction. They bring a small loaf of bread and some butter automatically but you can just immediately request that they take it away. They have a clear gluten free menu that specifies how to order you food I.e. order without bun, without seasoning. At this location I got a bacon cheeseburger without bun and a plain baked potato with sour cream on the side. It was very filling and tasty. Our table was clean with no crumbs and on this occasion I did not suffer any reaction so I am fairly certain my food was not contaminated.
I ordered a 12-ounce steak and asparagus. After it had been long enough that I was beginning to expect my food to arrive, a manager came to the table and said the 12-ounce steak had accidentally been glutened, and they were going to be starting a new steak. They brought some asparagus, an additional amount over what I had ordered. I complicated the manager and waiter, and said I very much appreciated what they did. I would have the bad body symptoms in 2 days had they not told me and done that. This deserves my 5-star review.
Staff are very knowledgeable and the gluten free brownie is amazing!
This location is very poor in dealing with allergies. I ordered take out with my friend and we ordered the same dish, except mine was GF/Dairy-free, and no one labeled which box was for an allergy. Manager wasn't very friendly and only offered me a free dessert (after she knew I couldn't eat any). If you're close enough to go to Lowell's Outback I recommend their service with 5 stars, their manager is awesome!
While they do have a gluten free menu, it's really just select things from their regular menu that you have to request be made differently. All they really have is salads, steaks or chicken. Burgers don't come with a bun. Fries come with all burgers but aren't GF. This is a shame. Also their veggies have to be requested without seasoning. I would have given this place more stars if there was a better selection. I also got the vibe from their menu that they don't cook or prepare things separately to avoid cross contamination. I ended up getting a salad but had to ask for it to be made in a clean bowl and to leave off croutons. Seems like more of a half hearted attempt at gluten free than a dedicated menu.
The server noticed I had the GF menu, I said my order had to be GF, and the server responded that the order would be GF. Despite that, when almost done with the salad I felt a "crunch" between my teeth and tasted garlic -- unmistakably part of a crouton. I stopped eating and asked for the manager. Before the manager appeared, the main dish was delivered, complete with seasoned butter (gluten-butter) on the vegetables. The manager asked if I ordered a GF meal, apologized, and gave me a $20 gift card. Unlike other Outbacks over the years, the manager did not tell me why my meal was prepared improperly, or act like making it improperly was anything other than an inconvenience. The idea that this was a health issue seemed like a new concept to the manager. I'm not going back.
Gluten free menu makes ordering so easy. Our waitress was very nice and understanding. Ordered the grilled Tilapia with unseasoned vegetables and it was so delish. So nice to know you can go out and have a healthy and tasty meal without the worry.
staff was not very knowledgable. they do have a dedicated menu, but the kitchen messed up our order. we requested a freshly made salad with NO croutons and they couldn't even get that right and my son was sick for 2 weeks from cross contamination! they apologized and gave us gift cards to come back...
My wife and I took our two granddaughters to Outback for dinner. My wife has Celiac She ordered from the gluten free menu and the waitress assured her they are very diligent with their gluten free menu. When her dinner came out my wife noticed breadcrumbs on the topping. We asked our server to confirm they were gluten free. It turned out is wasn't and they brought her a different dinner. The manager came put and somewhat apologized and said mistakes happen. We weren't pleased with her flippant attitude We will not go back
From an allergy perspective, this location was a good choice. In our party of 9, we had 2 with a severe red meat allergy and 2 more celiacs. The waiter was friendly and managed to take our requests seriously. Getting drink refills and all the sides right was a different story, but no one got sick and we were a large party with multiple allergies.
Good food. Knowledgable staff. Safe place to eat.
Worst Outback experience ever. This is usually a safe bet for us but the pork chop was way over done, the service was bare minimum, the snow crab legs were dried out and the Bloody Mary was awful. My steak was more medium rare than rare but it was the only really edible thing we ordered. Our Outback at home in NY is 1000 times better than this one.
I would give ZERO stars if I could. CELIAC'S BEWARE. This facility claims to have gluten-free options but this is not the case. I researched online what to order and how to order before I went, and had a waiter with no concern or understanding of the importance of gluten-free. Do not eat at outback, or expect to be gluten poisoned for 3 days.
This Outback in Sanford as well as others I've visited or gotten take-out from out-of-state are all really great at accommodating gluten-free--just order off their gluten-free menu and let them know you can't have gluten. They have one of the largest gluten-free menus I've ever seen from a chain restaurant. We aren't limited to salads here! And the gluten-free chocolate Thunder from Down Under is amazing!!
If I could I would have given zero stars as my son and I both got glutened! Nothing worse than watching your son writhe in agony due to someone else's carelessness. We ordered from the GF menu and stressed the celiac issues. We might as well have been speaking in gibberish🌟🌟 On 3/28/14 the manager of this location called me to discuss my concerns. After our conversation, which included a lot of apologies and assurances that he is going to get his staff together, I feel confident that the concerns are going to be addressed. He was awesome. We will give them another shot and report back.
8 year old daughter was just diagnosed with celiacs and we went to Outback with a large group on a busy night. Got the GF menu from the host and first thing the waitress did was find out who at the table was GF. The waitress knew which entrees, sides, and spices were GF. When the bread came everyone dug in while my little one started tearing up in the corner, the waitress noticed and brought her a GF brownie so she could join in. The steak was overcooked but the GF service was top notch.
Asked several times about gluten free before and after our order was received. The waitress brought out my son's burger on a beautiful bun.I asked again if it was gluten free and she said yes .Two bites later I checked again and asked her to ask the chef.Oops too late for my son.Watch out here employees don't know what they are doing .
Seem to be knowledgeable. The GF brownie with ice cream and chocolate sauce is the best, order it alone because it is huge.
There is a GF menu, but it's not really GF. It list the regular foods and tells you how to basically ask them to change everything so you can eat it. They note that you need to ask for no croutons when ordering from the GF menu, that you need to ask for the salad to be mixed in a separate bowl, etc. they have breaded dishes on the menu. If there was someplace else to eat within a reasonable distance I wouldn't be here right now.
They actually have a menu and the server was knowledge.
We had to ask for the gluten free menu. I order classic burger on this menu. I had just been in the hospital for eight days because of my allergy to wheat. My order came. I took a bit out of it. The bun tasted different the gluten free. I asked if it was gluten free. The waitress grab the burger to check with the cook if there was gluten in the meal. Well, she came back with a hamburger patty with cheese , (no bun, lettuce, tomatoes or pickles. I was offered a side dish of my choice. I had bread in my car, so I ran out to the car, got my bread asked for mayo and mustard. I had my cheeseburger and a salad. I got charge for the regular classic cheese burger over $9.00. I will not go back. I could easily ended up back in the hospital and I don't feel I should have paid regular price for the meal that I had to bring in my own bread. This is a dangerous place for Gluten Free costomers.
I hate giving a bad review for Outback because I have been to many other chains with great experiences. This one is one to stay away from, however. They didn't have a gluten free menu and simply printed out their "allergen" menu, which had conflicting information with their gluten free menu (which I looked up on my phone to verify since the items listed as gluten free on the "allergen" menu haven't been gluten free options in the past, such as fries and soups). When I asked about the conflicting information on the menus the server told me that "honestly everything is just fried in the same fryer" and that he didn't know what would actually be gluten free. The manager was also no help. Very frustrating and my family had to leave and go to a safer restaurant option. Will not be going back to this location. The one in High Point is wonderful, though!
Food was delicious, place was busy and we had 7 but service was still speedy in my opinion. Menus were not just pamphlets or a piece of paper. Staff well educated, only problem was the chef was maybe not made aware of my intolerance- had a slight reaction to either chicken or bbq sauce.
My daughter says it's her favorite place because they named a sundae after her "Sydney" lol We had no problems talking with the staff and making them understand celiac and cross-contamination, ask for the manager and he took care of everything!
Very disappointed. I love Outback but this one is one to avoid. Three out of four of us got sick after our dinning experience.
Ate there Sunday night. Kind of pricey for a chicken breast & baked potato. Although waitress was pleasant service was pretty slow - especially since they were not crowded.
Very safe place to eat in my opinion. I have eaten there at least 6-8 times without a problem. When I question ingredients, I always get a detailed answer. Outback is one of the few places I can always trust. I hope it is the same for all Outback Restaurants.
Good waiter and food. Thunder doe. Under was made properly. Followed the menu and wait staff had correct answers. It was cool.
they completely screwed up my wife's dinner. we specifically ask that the dinner was gluten free. when it came out and didn't taste right the manager said it was okay but my wife has been in pain since we left. last time we go here with our family.
This Outback did a really great job of handling GF. The waitress was very knowledgable. I would only encourage Outback to develop a nut free GF dessert.
Server seemed very knowledgeable about Celiac/GF options, but she brought me croutons on my salad after I told her we couldn't eat bread and just as concerning, she asked me how I wanted my pork chop cooked. Whaaaaa?! The place is hard to find and surrounded by bars, but there is a close GF vegan bakery. We didn't get to try it though.
I haven't dined inside (only pickup) and I doubt I ever will. Both times I ordered salmon it was hard and fishy. IDK if they only use old fish for pickup customers, but Im not willing to find out. When Ive ordered veggies they were raw. I literally had to cook them myself. The server was quite friendly and appeared knowledgeable in gf. But I would like a decent meal to go along with friendly service
My first clue should have been when they could not find any gluten-free menus!! Celiac friendly it is not! Food is good, service was good, but after letting them know several times of my issues I still got sick. And this is not the only Outback that I've gotten sick from. They need to train and re-train their staff!
I tried Outback's "gluten free" menu yesterday. I ordered grilled salmon and a baked potato. I intentionally didn't order anything where I had to ask that sauces or sides be substituted as the menu suggests. I feel like that leaves room for error in the kitchen. Immediately after, I have the familiar stomach ache. Now today, and for the next week, I will suffer the consequences of being glutened. Never again, Outback.
From 10/2013- Great menu options. Although server was not very knowledgeable, he tolerated my coaching pretty well. Went again in Jan 2014- the server was very knowledgeable and willing to ask kitchen extra questions and went extra mile. Their gf menu didn't have children's items listed, so when I asked him if a child's burger is gf (their others are)- he was happy to check with cook.
Wait staff very well trained. My waiter caught my dish before it was delivered as the kitchen put a crispy topping that comes on the ordinary version. The manager was also quick to tell me why my meal was delayed. They remade my dish quickly.
I've been served gluten too many times. I frequent many Outbacks, but this one needs to get its act together. Dirty silverware, food undercooked, croutons on my salad, and butter sauce that is not GF on brocolli even when I told them I needed GF, etc, etc, etc. One thing that is nice at this Outback that I've never seen at any other is that they serve GF customers carrots and celery when they bring bread for others at the table.
Outback in Norwood is great at ensuring the staff is educated on gluten. I have eaten there at least 100 times over the last few years. I can't say all Outbacks are good like Norwood because their not. Food is good, selection is good, price is good, I feel safe eating there.
Every time it have eaten here, the staff has made sure that the manager is notified of my dietary restrictions so that he can oversee the preparation of my meal. Always willing to accommodate my gluten and dairy issues, I've never encountered any issues with this location.
This particular Outback has been very good about accommodating my Celiac disease for going on eight years now. There have been very few screw-ups in all that time, maybe a handful at most. They train the staff well and take gluten-free seriously. Outback in general is a good chain but this one is outstanding.
I just had the best ribeye ever! They were knowledgable in anything I asked.
Amazing from beginning to end, wonderful menu not just a piece of appear the food was amazing and the staff friendly and educated, it was the first meal in 18 months where my wife didn't feel like an outcast, I can't say enough good about this place, but I can highly recommend it!!!!5 stars isn't enough!
I don't like GF menus that result in this "without xx" or "no sauce". That's not a gluten free menu. I've had good experiences here as far as basics- salad "without croutons", steak, and vegetables "without seasoning". Their chocolate thunder down under is a GF dessert and it's yummy! I have had issues with their staff being poorly trained (including a waitress insisting their bread was gluten free). Overall, we've never been sick from cross contamination, so I'm sticking middle of the road!
Great gf options and a delicious gf brownie for dessert. They definitely exceeded my expectations.
Very knowledgeable staff that's in the know about the gluten free options on the menu, of which there are plenty. There's even a gluten free dessert (a brownie with ice cream and whipped cream that's so delicious and probably not at all healthy). Super pleased!
Everything was well done, the staff made sure to double check while taking my order and bringing it out to me what I can and cannot have, however I have reason to believe that maybe their ranch is not gluten free. That's the only thing I can think of that I consumed which would have made me sick.
I can't speak for the chain, but this particular location has taken care of me many times. The servers aren't all informed but the kitchen staff and manger staff(in my experience) is. I'm told they even have a 'gluten free' button in the order process... So it's pretty dummy-proof. I've even been able to order online and have no problems. They definitely take it seriously and I certainly appreciate it!! 😄
the WORST outback ever! Ive been gf for more than a dozen years and never have I feared contamination more. Not only is the food not gf, the steamed veggies smell as if they have been simmering in urine. My salmon is old, hard and smothered in pepper. Im terrified to look at the potatoe and toppings. And despite telling them numerous times that Im gf, i was given bread. This store is poorly managed and should b avoided at all costs.
We had poor, slow service and it was clear that there were no procedures in place to prevent cross-contamination. Salad had crumbs in it from where they must have removed the croutons. They served au jus with prime rib even though the GF menu said it wasn't safe. Food was decent but dinner took 2 hours.
Ok! The Chocolate Thunder From Down Under (or something like that). IS AN AMAZING GF DESSERT HERE! It's a gf chocolate brownie, with a big scoop of ice cream on top, and hot fudge sauce. It's about $7 or $8 but it is HUGE! Also, the waiters and waitresses are very nice!
they do have a gluten free menu, but it lists almost everything that is on the normal menu, but under every item it tells you how to "order it gluten free". they list burgers and sandwiches on the gluten free menu and say "AVOID THE BREAD"... basically, they have nothing that is actually labeled "gluten free" and all of the waiters that I talked to did not know much, if anything at all, about how to make sure that something really is gluten free. I got sick from choosing things on their gluten free menu because there were still traces of gluten in the food.
Salinas, CA location had a gluten free menu and we ordered off it. Apparently it was an old menu and we were served a salad with different ingredients with a non-gluten free dressing. Staff was NOT knowledgable at this location about celiac or gluten free. Other locations have been great.
My little brothers favorite restaurant! Their chocolate thunder from down under is the most popular desert and is also gluten free! They have a dedicated gluten free menu, staff is very knowledgable about gluten free. Almost always have great service there, love this restaurant!
I ordered a Steakhouse Salad. I received the equivalent of an iceberg "bag" salad as from the grocery store with a steak on top. When I asked about the missing cinnamon pecans, tomatoes, and red onion, I was told those items were all left off of my salad because they were not gluten free. I mentioned that the tomatoes and red onions were definitely gluten free and the cinnamon pecans are listed as gluten free on their menu. I handed the menu to the server so she could consult with the chef on it. She brought out little cups containing 2 of the 3 missing ingredients. She forgot the red onions. Unfortunately, I was 2/3 finished with my meal by the time the consultation was done. My husband was actually completely through with his so the little cups were unnecessary. I was very kind and polite in case any are wondering. Still, no apologies, no manager to come over, etc. Very disappointed.
The waiter was very knowledgeable in taking my gluten free order. They have a gluten free menu online with a variety of options. The food was great!
I really like the Victoria steak and they have enough GF choices to satisfy me. Even brownies for dessert if I want!
Good selection, yummy food, knowledgeable staff and management. Couldn't ask for more.
The managers we spoke with had limited knowledge about celiac, but we're eager to help. However, the waitress was left in charge, and was neither knowledgable nor helpful. Indifferent, at best. In the end, our Celiac son was doubled over in stomach pain. Wouldn't go back.
We have been there twice. The first time Aussie fries were on the same plate as the "GF" burger (Aussie Fries are clearly marked as NOT GF on menu). When we commented to waitress she looked shocked and said "but the burger doesn't have a bun". She didn't have a clue. We talked to management and they apologized. This week we thought we would give them another try and the "GF" burger arrived with a bun. The waiter offered to remove the bun. Obviously they don't have a clue about being gluten free and cross contamination issues. We left without eating and will not be returning.
Favorite place to eat GF. Luckily what I always got was GF all along. But I like how they have a separate GF menu. Thier cheese fries aren't on the GF menu, but they don't make me sick and are awesome!! I do have to add that I am mild celiac and was told not to worry about cross contamination and have not had a problem with it yet.
As of 08/05/13 staff does not seem to understand the true meaning of "gluten free". I have tried the chicken caesar twice, and both times were cross contaminated. Not being a full blown celiac I am not as concerned about CC ... but know how big of a deal this is for others. I stressed that I was GF, and said no croutons!!! (would you grill something on a grill that had traces of peanut oil if someone had a peanut allergy? Or use the same gloves? The same tongs? Put peanuts on their food? I don't think so. I wish people realized it's the same...and just because you do not go into anaphylactic shock right then and there that it does not mean its not a "legit" reaction. Anyways ....point is, It came with croutons. I realized only after I got home, (should have checked!) like I said though, not a huge deal for me personally..... but come on. Also, when she brought it out to the car she seemed confused and asked if it was "okay that she didn't put bread in the bag?" Again, just shows she had no idea. Unfortunate. Second time there were several bites I took with strong hints of blue cheese. Not a gluten free dressing. Bummer. Belonging to a chain that boasts such a GF friendly, and extensive menu, I feel like staff should be better educated on gluten allergies and the importance of CC. An extra star added for great taste though! Other outbacks get rave reviews and seem to be more knowledgable then the staff at this location. I plan to speak to a manager because staff can not correct an issue if they are not even aware it's an issue to begin with. Hopefully they are understanding about it and correct it. it would be a shame for someone else to have a full blown reaction due to something that could have easily been avoided! Or for anyone to have to miss out on something as delicious as this!
They have a large GF menu that is supported by the GIG. Fantastic Service! The waitress was incredibly knowledgable about the GF items and was very good with notifying the kitchen about the gluten intolerance. I had a Pina Colada, Grilled Shrimp on the Barbie appetizer, Filet and Lobster Tails with a dressed baked potato and house salad (no croutons, honey mustard dressing), and the Chocolate Thunder from Down Under. No gluten effects whatsoever. Very pleased with the selection and the speedy and knowledgable service.
This Outback did a great job meeting my celiac needs. From the menu to the waitress to the cook it was all perfect. They even have a dedicated food prep area for gluten free including fresh gloves. The food was good too, bonus! Bob
Every time I've eaten here ice gotten great service. The manager usually takes and prepares my order to ensure that it's GF. They have a pretty good variety of GF options. Of course, make sure to tell them not to bring the bread. Lol. Oh and the brownie desert is AMAZING! And completely GF.
Great food and service!
Server nice. Wait is ridiculous stupid. Kitchen is clueless! Had to send back plate twice.
Very helpful staff and I love the fact that I can get dessert there.
I was pleasantly surprised at the number of options available and my waiter seemed to understand the importance of my meal being gluten free. The ribeye steak was very good and the sweet potato and asparagus sides were also good. I did not get sick after eating here! Glad to have found a safe place to eat out in Beaumont.
Ask for GF menu, can change food to make them GF
Service and food was great. Only issue is that it tore my stomach up and my family's. I couldn't stay out of the bathroom for 3 days. They also lied to me. They gave me my order with a regular bun and told me it was gluten free. Good thing I double checked or I would of ended up in the hospital.
I ate at this location 3 times with different gf menu items. Got sick each time. Spoke to the manager that wasn't very concerned about it by saying I must have a higher sensitivity than others. A friend in Lexington KY had the same problem (tried 3 times, got sick 3 times), so it's not just this location, but the entire chain. I refuse to eat at an Outback, which is a shame as I loved eating there before I knew I was gluten intolerant. Too bad I can't give it a negative star rating.
Great steak even had a gf dessert which is soo rare! Excellent service by a willing staff to accommodate gf.
I have allergies to dairy (including butter) and gluten. This was *the best* dining experience. When I asked for an allergen menu, the manager came over and asked what allergies I have. He gave me the GF menu and was on call for any questions I had regarding dairy. He was in the kitchen making sure my food was cooked separately from everything else. I didn't have to wait longer for my food then the rest of my party. It was AWESOME! Thank you for such a good experience!
This particular Outback has very poor customer service. I went there for my anniversary dinner and the wait staff lost my cc between my table and the register. They told me to wait until the following day to report it. I did not! By the time I got Home I knew I was glutenized. Try another Outback... Or the likelihood is high for you to be glutenized.
So much for a good meal.. They have a impressive new gluten free menu.. 4 bites into my broccoli and meal a waitress runs up and says stop eating they gave me the wrong meal ...i have been sick for the past 12 hours!!!
The staff was very knowledgable about gluten free options and what was available. Great, attentive service.
We come here often because I know my food is going to be safe! And the few times there have been mistakes on our orders it has been fixed quickly, management is quick to comp parts of our meal and provide a free appetizer or dessert! Even better, they have a gluten free dessert!
I've been here twice, both times at lunch (which is drastically less busy than dinner). One waitress was very careful, with the other it wasn't totally clear how much attention she was paying. I did not get sick after either visit. Both times, food was good, but GF options are quite limited.
I'm surprised at these low reviews because they do have a gf menu and every time I've gone the manager has come out to check on me! And the food is clearly not frozen because I've always done a million modifications to have it the way I want/need. Always good!
Great, dependable service and they have a gluten free menu.
Good choice and a gluten free menu for kids! The brownies is very good. No problem dor my 2 daugthers
Ask for the GF menu from the hostess or your waiter. All menu items and variations, if needed, are clearly shown there. In our experience, this location's waitstaff was well trained in GF needs (such as what it means to not cross contaminate). We met the manager here last year and his wife was Celiac. So he was passionate about educating the staff. KUDOS to them for doing it right!!! The Royersford location is decent as well. But the Reading location was far and away better educated on the issue.
Outback is pretty cookie cutter. Found a dead fly and fly parts in my salad. I understand it happens sometimes. The staff and manager were very accomodating and comp'd my meal and brought new food Probably wouldn't return. It's just so so food
Huge GF menu!!!
For the most part, love outback. Awesome GF menu. I will say though that the bay area location made me sicker than I have gotten in a very long time about a year ago...I think they forgot and put a sauce on my food they weren't supposed to. Just don't be afraid to emphasize your sensitivity if you are celiac or a highly sensitive gluten intolerant like me no matter how great their menu is.
I have eaten at Outback several times & they seemed to do pretty good. But the last time I ate there I had a random crouton in my side dish, they were not concerned about it, didn't seem to understand why I was upset. The manger gave me his card & told me to call if I got sick.
Great gf menu and great food. Have eaten here many times in last nine years. Never had a problem.
Great service and excellent food. Another Outback had told me they can make their wings gluten free by grilling them. I asked here and they were happy to do it! As always, their thunder from down under chocolate masterpiece was amazing. My favorite by far.
They seem like they know what their doing when it comes to glutenfree
Service? A little awkward but overall good service. The food? Well... It was good while I ate it. I got the shrimp Caesar salad and specifically asked for no croutons and for it to be prepared gluten free. The waiter said "gluten free? Yeah." and seemed like he understood. I have been to other Outbacks and ordered this same item and had no problems, but honestly, I'm lucky I made it back to our hotel. Within about a hour of leaving Outback, I was sick. The last meal/food I ate was 6 hours prior to arriving at Outback so I'm certain that Outback was the culprit. Pretty sad as they do have a dedicated gf menu and apparently are trained on gluten-free awareness. I am honestly questioning how well all locations are trained or if some staff members are even trained enough to know the words "gluten free." My poor review is from the fact that I got sick . I understand cross-contamination (and have had no problems at other restaurants... Ones that don't even have a dedicated gluten-free menu), but I expect more from Outback's supposedly GIG-trained staff.
Their Gluten Free food tastes great. And the service is great as well. Unfortunately, they don't have a dedicated Gluten Free kitchen.
We dine here often. Only one time did my meal come out incorrectly, and not only did the manager quickly remedy the situation, but she gave us my meal for free.
Really yummy. Actually provide a gluten free menu.
The food is good, but I went there twice last week. I specifically said that I wanted my order gluten free - no croutons, no sauces that contained gluten, etc. This was the Outback to go thingy. When I got home, I was pleased, at first...my order didn't have bread, etc; on it, but inside the bag was a huge whopping hunk of bread. This has happened on several occasions. The second time, the bread wasn't in a "bag" I could just throw out. I had to actually touch the bread, and ended up with a rash on my face. Not cool.
They do a good job of identifying gluten-free menu items and provide a separate GF menu at most locations. The manager personally confirmed my order was prepared GF. They seem fairly consistent across the franchise. Be sure to ask for the GF menu at each location.
What a wonderful Gluten Free menu. The staff suggested the Cheesy Fry appetizer. It is save since they have a dedicated fryer. OH MY-that was good. Our waitress told us about the burgers and the gluten free buns!! Right, they have gluten free buns!!! The dessert was great too. A few days later and I am still feeling fine so no cross-contamination!! I give this a three thumbs up!! Wait....oh....I only have two thumbs..can I borrow yours? :-)
Great gluten free menu
Hostess provided a gluten free menu. Waiter asked first before bringing bread since my husband is not gluten free. Food was excellent and waiter was great as soon as he found out I needed gluten free!! Great place and I feel great after a good meal!!!
Has GF menu and good variety. I enjoyed my meal very much.
Dedicated gf menu (though not on the regular menu). Waitress specifically asked if my order was gf as soon as I asked for no croutons - seemed knowledgable. They do have gf desserts (a brownie and some ice cream dessert), but for the price (over $7 for the brownie) and taste, I would have much rather gotten a gf dessert from the grocery store. Overall, nothing too special for the price.
This location is the best Outback
they have very educated staff and never make you feel like they have to go out of their way for you they are happy to actually. I havr only had one issue with the food one time (knock on wood) but that could be something else its hard telling sometimes we all know this. but they do have a lot of options for gluten free allergies. a must try! they even have desert. you can also order their fries but they do need 45min to prepare and clean the fryer I usually feel too much of a burden then lol so if I am craving fries ore ida steak fries are a great choice for a homecooked meal some night
The workers are very knowledgeable. There are also a lot of gluten free choices. I have been many times and have never gotten sick. It's a great place.
This place is incredible! I have gone twice in one week. They have an actual gluten free menu including a drink menu for the bar. Even the servers and bar tenders are educated on gluten free. Some VP of Outback higher up is a celiac so they have been doing gluten free for a long time. Steaks don't use butter or gluten seasoning either. They won't even bring bread to the table if u don't want it. It's really relaxing.
this is the first place I've gone that had a menu with more than three things on it. it was very well defined how to order it. nice not to have to compare two menus for an hour to figure it all out.
Very professional and well done. I had their gf menu in my hand and the waitress asked if it was ok to bring bread to the table. I didn't have to explain anything about celiac, they knew the issues already with cross contamination. I will definitely be coming back here again!
I've frequented this Outback many times. The staff is knowledgeable, courteous and will work with your diet. Being GFCF they assured me they cook the ribs over an open flame, not on a shared grill, and would ensure that my dinner was prepared GFCF. I had the ribs without the BBQ sauce and a side of asparagus. The manager, Vita, came over as I ordered to make sure my questions were answered and that they understood my needs. Another great experience here at Outback!
The best gf dinner ever! I got to have a gf appetizer and CHOCOLATE DESSERT! A great flourless brownie, they dust pan w/ sugar. Two pages of gf items. Wait staff were great answering all my concerns. If they can do it why cant others? I'll go back h telly gf friends!
Owner stopped by table and shared that he is also celiac. Good extensive gluten free menu. Service is great and food is great.
The manager treated me like royalty. Great GF menu that was very clearly spelled out.
We visited this restaurant for my father's 70th Birthday. My sister and I both suffer from a severe gluten sensitivity so we were very pleased when the manager came by to ensure that our meals were being prepared properly. The GF menu was rather large and gave plenty of information on what to exclude from each dish. My only criticism is that when our meals were delivered by a different waitress and she wasn't sure which were gluten free. Fortunately our original waitress came to the rescue and cleared up the confusion. All in all, not the most stressful dining experience I've had thus far and the food was pretty good as well :)
They try hard but young wait staff and poor kitchen communication can often lead to mistakes so if you're a celiac who can't abide crumbs in your salad make sure a manager personally oversees your order or try another chain. I think they try hard at outback but corporate has to train their staff better - too many teen servers who take shortcuts
ordered a gf prime rib, which meant they cooked it without any seasoning. ugh.
Ate here 3 times in 2011 with no problems. Menu is almost the same as CA. Sat on the deck with a fantastic view of the West Maui Mountains. Food was good; staff was great and very careful. Came back in 2013 and was served my GF chicken sandwich on a bun. They redid it and it was fine, but my husband was done before I got mine.
Ordered a house salad with NO croutons, and stressed Gluten Free. Someone else brought it out for our server, and it had croutons. So, we requested another one...and she brought the same one out...just removing the croutons with crumbs all over it. Just be VERY careful.
Never had an accidental "glutening" here. However, their BBQ sauce they can't officially say that it is gluten-free because it is not made in house so I recommend not eating it. As long as they cook the meat right it's delicious without the sauce
Dedicated gluten free menu with a variety of options and they seem to do a good job with staff training. I don't have a lot of inexpensive lunch options at work so it's nice to know at the very least I can safely get a salad and grilled chicken.
very nice service, great food.
They have a great dedicated GF menu and are really careful & concerned about their GF customers. We have eaten at this Outback a few times. The food is consistently good and so os the service. Gluten Free? You can enjoy your meal without worry at Outback!
They have a nice menu which includes two desserts! I never feel deprived when we go out to dinner and come to the Outback.
I get their bunless bacon cheese burger with a loaded baked potato! Yum!
Manager came to table to explain GF options on the menu and if I had any questions she could answer. GF food came out separate from the other orders. Extensive menu. Seemed to know what they are doing. I was so disappointed when I got sick after eating there.
I will NEVER visit this location again. Despite being so far away, we really like Outback and wanted to try it. First visit - my husband became violently ill. Our waiter was more concerned with flirting with the table of four women in their late 20s-early 30s than with anything to do with us. We didn't order alcohol, so we never saw him again until he brought our food and then brought our check. That was it. Three whole visits. We complained and received a free dessert coupon - that we couldn't use! When I mentioned it, the manager wrote we could get one of the two gf options instead. So about two weeks later, we make the LONG drive down south to eat at this location. Second visit - my husband becomes violently ill. Our waitress told us they didn't have gf selections because they weren't "that kind of restaurant". We asked to be reseated with a new waiter/waitress. That was a huge commotion, and the waitress threw a tantrum about it in front of everyone. New table, new waitress, we finally order. The food delivered is not what we ordered, not how we ordered it, and not gf. Also, we received alcoholic beverages - which we did not order nor can consume. We get through the meal and my husband is violently ill before we leave the restaurant. He goes to the bathroom to be sick and is there for over half an hour. During this time, I am asked THREE TIMES to leave so they can have the table. We haven't even gotten the check yet! We don't even order the free dessert we went for. In the parking lot, I call the restaurant and ask for the manager. I complain about the HORRIBLE service we received, and he starts to yell at me over the phone. I mention I'm in the parking lot, and he comes to my car and yells at me in person. I wanted to call the cops, I was so scared! A LONG time passes, and we're craving Outback. So we decide to give it ONE MORE CHANCE. Third visit - our waiter sits us at a dirty table, then at the bar (which we specifically said we didn't want), and finally at a booth that was clean. We ordered drinks and our entrees (since we know what we eat there). The drinks come with the entrees 45 minutes later. Mine has everything on it I asked to be left off; my husband's is missing the bacon. Both have mashed potatoes with gravy instead of loaded baked potatoes. We send them back and the manager comes over to ask "what our problem is". As soon as I mention that we're gluten-free he says, "Oh. You're that bitchy couple that's always in here complaining about our bad food. Well let me tell you - my staff is trained and certified in gluten-free service. Our food is the best around, and this restaurant is perfect. If you don't like it, then stop eating here. We don't want you here anyways." We were so shocked, and so were the people around us. I started crying, I was so upset and humiliated. We left, and three other tables left with us. In the parking lot, they all spoke with us to find out what was going on. WE WILL NEVER EAT HERE AGAIN. Outback is amazing, but this location can frankly go to hell and take its "perfect" and "best around" food with it. You poison my husband and myself, yell in my face, and blame me? Nope. BAD RESTAURANT, BAD SERVICE. Stay away.
Today (Sunday) January 13th, 2013, around 3:30 PM we went to your restaurant to eat. This 1st bad thing that happened was the person seated us in a section of a girl about to get off work, and right in front of us she scolded him for it. I knew then, things weren't going to go well. She brought no napkins of silverware, but took our order, then told us another person would be taking care of the rest of our time there. Then the other "take over" person brought a perfectly burned blooming onion that we waited for forever. I got up and went to a table and got our own rolled silverware from a vacant table. A manager came over and asked if everything was ok. We told him the blooming onion was burned and he agreed. He said he would take it off our bill.He apologized and said he saw me get our silverware from another table. The two people at a table close to us came in after we did and were served their meal first. Then our food came and I got completely ripped off on my Cobb salad. It was warm lettuce and sparse chicken for I believe 11.99. My mother and husband only ordered a hamburger each, and it took 45 minutes to get this simple food. Our waiter that took over from the girl who got off work tried to make up for everything by being nice, but it didn't make up for the HOT salad and burned blooming onion. What kind of chef or cook tries to pawn burned food off on a customer? What kind of chef serves a Hot salad? If we had ordered a Steak and baked potato dinner I could see it taking a little longer, but this order was as simple as it gets. Won't be going back, we are afraid of a repeat on all this mayhem. Guess you cannot go to Outback at 3:30 in the afternoon and expect a decent meal. Wish we had just gone by McDonald's because it wasn't at ALL worth the taste or the TIME it took to get all that bad service and food. The management needs to have a "Huddle" with her team. This left a bad Taste" in our mouth for this restaurant!
5 stars for understanding my diet needs. 3 consecutive visits of overcooking and undercooking my steak equals zero stats. the last visit the steak was sent back twice. the manager did offer a dessert (which I couldn't eat). he tried and was pleasant, but I wanted a steak medium rare- not a dessert.
We have loved the Outback Steakhouse for years! I was diagnosed with CD in January 2012 and this has been our go to restaurant! The GF menu is terrific! There are many options and it tells you what you can and can't have as side dishes. The servers are fairly knowledgeable - depending on which restaurant we go to. My kids love it! We can get a great meal for them for a good price with lots of gluten free options that they LOVE! Just be sure to ask for the GF menu when you walk in. They have them at the hostess stand.
I have never experienced anything so disastrous in all my life as the Outback Steakhouse at 8601 W. Cross Drive, Littleton, CO 80123. My wife ordered a 6oz Steak with salad, whilst I ordered an 11oz steak with mashed potatoes and mixed veg. To begin with, my wife was served her salad minus the steak, my meal wasn't served me, (minus the mashed potatoes) until after my wife had eaten her salad, I was told that the last batch of mashed potatoes went rather quickly and they were still waiting on the next batch. In the meantime we were offered a plate of fries between us and it wasn't until after we had eaten these that the mashed potatoes arrived. So not only did my wife and I NOT enjoy eating our meals together, our meals were served in stages. Despite all this inconvenience, and the manageress having to come to our table to explain the reason for the poor service, we were not offered any form of compensation as a token of goodwill. We left disgusted, with a promise never to return..
Outback is knowledgeable about gluten allergies, or intolerances. They have a gluten free menu that includes appetizers, entrees, salads, and even deserts! My favorite desert is the chocolate thunder from down under, from the ice cream to the brownie, everything is gluten free!
The waitress had no clue what gluten free meant. I told her totally gluten free she said, so no cheese and cucumbers? I'm not celiac but have very bad pain after eating gluten. The salad was fine. The seared tuna was like plastic and was covered in seasoning. The menu even states their seasoning isn't safe! I got a dry sweet potato...super yummy but who can mess up a sealed veggie?! overall I'd say call and speak to the manager before going to be sure they are up on their training and will ensure you will be safe. -the options are super limited in this area, they should be on top of it. Good amount of items on menu, when done correctly.
Served raw food!!
I love going to the Outback Steakhouse. I know I won't get sick if I stick to the Gluten Free Menu!! Their staff are very knowledgeable. The entire order is listed as gluten free. Every part of the meal is delivered and stated that it is gluten free. Their food is always delicious and I never get sick from going out! :)
Always perfect. Staff is very knowledgeable and food is great. Huge menu includes appetizers desert and alcohol. Also bring gluten free bread to the table.
Food is as expected for a big chain. However, I spoke with the manager at the Meyerland location and was told that they are very careful about cross contamination, using a separate grill area and cooking utensils. Wait staff seemed knowledgeable about gluten free requirements.
Not impressed with this location. I've eaten at Outback's all over the country and never once gotten sick except at this location and the first time it was mild and the second time it was pretty bad so I won't be back. Not sure what they are doing wrong.
Gluten-free menu is okay. My problem was that I ordered a chicken dish with shrimp and my server brought it out with a side of some kind of sauce. I wasn't sure what it was and asked if it was safe for me. Good thing I did because it wasn't gluten-free! Not very good service/knowledge there. The dish was just meh. We probably wouldn't go again.
Staff seem more knowledgeable about GF than in the past. We eat there halfway regularly & so far - no adverse symptoms.
I have been to 5 outbacks in 5 states and Outback truely understands gluten free and has consistent standards throughout all their restaurants.
Always a good experience with the food at Outback. Be careful with the cocktails!! The Sydney's Cosmo Martini is listed on the gluten free menu. I ordered it & had a terrible reaction. I looked up the Skyy vodka that it is made with & it is made from wheat! :( I wish restaurants would do the research on the alcohol & mixes they use.
Very disappointed. I've been to this location 4 times and 3 of those times there has been a problem with my meal. It shouldn't be that hard to keep the crunchy topping off the pork. I will not go back to this location. Should be able to give a no star rating.
Love the GF menu and always have great service and food.
Nice variety and selection for GF menu. Our waiter and the manager were knowledgeable and very helpful. We also can't eat dairy so they checked all our choices carefully even bringing me the ingredient labels so I could read them myself. My two daughters and I all had nice meals and we all felt great afterward (which is the true test) even though they are really sensitive to cross-contamination. Definitely a good choice to dine here.
I always make sure to specify that the kitchen staff needs to be extra careful, as I am very sensitive to gluten. I've yet to get sick going there. A great place for margarita and steak!
Excellent knowledge of food allergies. Tasty food. GF brownie sundae was my favorite thing because gf peeps rarely get dessert. :)
I ordered take-out for my 30th birthday dinner. When I got home and opened my bag I found I was given terriaki skewers rather than strip steak. I called the manager and he replaced my meal and comped my payment. He also told me my veggies contained gluten so he suggested a substitute. I ended up with a fantastic birthday meal even though I was inconvenienced. The manager made up for it and I really appreciated that.
Love the gluten-free options. Servers are knowledgeable and careful.
Ordered from GF menu. Rib eye, sweet potato and broccoli. Everything was great and didn't get cross contaminated with anything. Just wish they had GF beer or hard cider.
Great GF Menu. Knowledgeable staff.
Outback always have great service, so it's no surprise that their servers take a Gf customer seriously. Our server was great and informed! Their Gf menu was good and they even have a Gf brownie! I was so impressed.
they have a gf button that gets pushed in the kitchen to make sure all the right precautions are taken. we love this place and haven't had any issues yet. plus their famous brownie dessert is gluten free and fabulous!!!
My family eats here a few times a month and we always leave happy. They have a large gluten free menu and are one of the few places my father (who is EXTREMELY sensitive) never worries at all. Very careful staff, delicious food, great prices - we couldn't be happier!
Grilled salmon with veggies and sweet potato was outstanding!
Our waiter was VERY knowledgeable about gluten! He took ALL my worries away about contamination. I have eaten here 2 times. One dine in, one order out...didn't get ill either time! Totally love that there is a place I can eat out with my family where they care how your food is prepared. GF safe in my book! :-)
Good gluten free options, come on its outback and finger licking good
They were SO friendly and really took the time to understand my needs. Luckily, they are all trained (at least they should be) about the gluten-free menu and what has to be modified to fit the needs of a Celiac or a gluten-sensitive person. There are so many options, it's great to eat here, and easy since they are in most places. http://celiacandthebeast.com/2012/10/review-outback-steakhouse-littleton-co/
Great service and yummy food. Love the Chocolate Thunder from Down Under! Very good GF dining experience.
Waitress was gf so understood cross contamination concerns. I am on an even more restrictive gf diet right now & Outback was able to accommodate it. GPS said restaurant was on opposite side of street (I reported the problem to Google Maps so hopefully they can correct it) & since restaurant is in strip mall instead of traditional Outback building, it was a little difficult to find.
Asked for a GF menu and the manager herself brought it to me. When all the meals came out mine wasn't with them all. The manager came personally carrying the plate with a napkin and directly told me it was cooked separately and she even made sure to tell me she washed her hands. Huge and informative menu!
Last night I ordered off the GF menu and today am having a reaction. I know that this was the only area out of my control. I can only assume cross contamination.
This restaurant was fantastic my daughter had excellent food that was gluten free or fantastic thank youll
Knowledgable and attentive staff. GF menu gives ample choices.
They were great. The waitress was helpful and the GF menu was awesome!
They need to update their gluten free menu to match what is available. But they were on the ball.
AWFUL. I ended up in hospital after eating here!! I ordered gf Alice springs chicken and gf chocolate cake, will never go back
I looked up the gluten free menu earlier in the day, then when I ordered dinner, the waitress seemed to know what gluten free food included. My salad was presented as gluten free, then after I ate it I discovered it wasn't. Not a good surprise. Deceptive or careless, you decide.
Huge GF menu!! It's basically the same as their regular menu except they tell you how to order it to make the item GF. Go on Tuesdays...you can get 2 GF meals for $15.99!!
Fantastic Gluten Free options!!!
They are VERY accommodating for food allergies, since the fries are fried in a common frier they are not gluten free if fried BUT they will bake them for you if let them know. The food was excellent, the staff wonderful, all in all its a safe good choice for us to eat at....,, now if only they had Guten free buns! We will be back
Dedicated GF menu but last time I got take out there I was glutened and got horribly sick.
fantastic! they were very knowledgeable about gf and the ingredients in their food. always a good experience here.
Always have their GF menu handy. I have had one problem with a carry out . Have never had a problem eating there.
Outback old staple for gf usually good
delicious food, some staffers are a little confused about ingredients. the general manager is very knowledgeable tho, and will come right to your table to answer any questions or explain ingredients. they do still put bread out on the table tho, even if you ask for a gluten free menu. you'll need to ask the server to remove it.
Kids and I with extensive allergies to Gluten and Dairy. Had an excellent meal! Wait staff very attentive and knowledgable we highly recommend a night out with the family!
Awesome and varied GF menu! Very accommodating!
Very accommodating GF menu with a LOT variety
Separate Gluten free menu& foods was good. After I ordered and specified gluten free with no seasonings the order came out w/ seasoning and when made aware some assist. Manager blames me by saying "next time you should specify gluten free!!! When I said how much more should I tell your waitress then ordering from gf menu, ordering no seasoning, no decorating "cook it & put on plate, I have foods allergies" .... Manger gave me a coupon for free blooming onion lol clueless
We have dined here many times and the food and servers are wonderful.
Mr Chris was great to ensure food was GF. food was great
Went there for my Bday and wasn't real impressed. We can cook a steak better. Grilled shrimp appetizer was ok lobster kinds rubbery. They were careful with my GF issues.
Great food. I usually order the steak and lobster tail. Always cooked perfectly. I tried their gluten free brownie too. Delicious. Can't tell it's GF.
you can tell outback employees are not aware of GF celiac but we try and come up with food my son could have . He order a grill chicken bake potato ,fresh strawberries and veggies. The food was great and he didn't get sick. just wish The company would educate their employees of celiac .
Horrible horrible awful awful! My dad and I both got sick along with the people in the booth behind us as well. We all had different things too. Stay away. !
Manager was very nice and helpful. My daughter has celiac..she had grilled chicken and a baked potato.
I was promised that the manager would personally talk to the chef about making some grilled chicken for my kids. They ate it and were broken out in a rash before we could even leave the restaurant.
This place has gotten me sick many times and the food doesn't taste so good either. I try not to go there because there a lot more GF places around me that are better than here.
The waitress was awesome. This was the first time my daughter and I have eaten out since being diagnosed. The whole family is not gluten free and the waitress was sure to keep everything separate. Nice to know there is a restaurant that we can eat at worry free. Best of all they have a yummy gluten free dessert.
Had her she is the best:-)
They have a gluten free menu with a lot of options. Salad with gluten free Ranch dressing, steak, baked potato and dessert.
Not truly gluten free....they just list items that don't have gluten....like getting a burger without bun.or ribs without sauce. These places shouldn't be allowed to advertise gluten free. With very little effort they could be 4 or 5 stars......
Staff very knowledgable with great selection. Chocolate thunder from down under is amazing:-) One of my no worry standbys
Need to make sure they know in kitchen you are gluten free
Normally, Outback does an excellent job with handling my order as a celiac. This location I'm sure was just an exception. My food came out not only on the same tray as the rest of our group, but the plate was actually touching the sandwich on another plate. Our server served my plate last with bare hands after touching the plate with the sandwich. It was a disappointment, but like I wrote earlier, my visit and/or this location is probably the exception.
I ordered a salad, grilled salmon (requested no MSG) and baked potato with butter. The salad came with croutons, which they happily replaced, with an apology. The salmon was wonderful!!! I would definitely recommend this restaurant!
They have a decently good GF menu. But your food is only as good as your server... and that's where I've had some bad experience. A waitress didn't properly communicate with the chef, she noticed her mistake as she brought us our food, but didn't point it out to us until we'd already eaten some of it. :-(
amazing menu and they care.
This location really seemed to grasp what I needed of them and took extra measures to make sure I felt comfortable. Great experience!
Don't bother if you are in any kind of hurry. We waited 25 minutes to settle our check. The service for the meal was poor also. The actual meal was good, both the gluten free and the regular but the GF menu is restrictive.
Went to the one in High Point, NC and they have a great shrimp appetizer as well as a flourless brownie. Staff and meal was wonderful. Great mgr on duty tonight who was concerned about the patrons. Waitress was knowledgable. Loved it and I will be back very soon!!!
Unfortunately, this restaurant is currently in search of a new gluten free food supplier. Previously, they had practically every food a gluten free-er could hope for. They had everything from gf macaroni and cheese and blooming' onion to gf bread and dessert! It's definitely worth the money and travel!
Half a star is what I was going for. I asked for and was given the GF menu. I ordered the mahi, no veggies with the garlic mashed potatoes. It states on the menu that the seasoned rice is not GF. I even mentioned that my meal had to be gluten free. Then the meal came WITH the rice. She, the server, said she would double check on the rice. During this time my husband and son are already eating. When she came back, she said yeah, the seasoning on the rice isn't GF and she had them start another order. What I did NOT like was that she then said if she had known I had to have GF that she would have told me about the rice!!! Not sure how much more it would have taken for her to know.... I guess the gluten free menu and my comment wasn't enough of a clue. By the time I got my food (again) everyone else was almost finished eating. I ate some of it, but I'm feeling a bit sick already. I will say that it was tasty, but no more Outback for me. Sad, really, another restaurant I don't trust. Seriously, if they can't honor a GF menu, why offer it?
Excellent, separate menu.
They have a no flour brownie desert that is awesome. Great gf food! Recommend the steak of BBQ ribs
Gluten free menu is nice and they will modify their foods to the best of their abilities to accommodate any other allergies you may have! Service was fast and friendly!
Nice gluten free menu options
I went to Outback and informed them of my needs as a celiac. They cooked a delicious meal and were very helpful. They have a gluten free menu. They do well regarding dietary needs. Ask for the manager and inform her and the kitchen. Hope this helps, and happy dining!
Outback is always a great gf choice and this location was no different. We ordered ribs, salad, and a kids burger w/o a bun. All of it was good. The dessert is so incredible we always fight over it.
Changed their gloves. Obviously trained staff understood gf issues. Delicious variety of food. They won't put typical butter on veggies because gluten, so ask for crab butter and can pour it over them.
They have list of GF options from there menu. Good food. Nice that their BBQ sauce is GF.
Limited items: and at a great risk of cross contamination! If your are super sensitive. Please Avoid!
This Outback is very positive about serving gluten free food. The waiters appear to be well trained on the subject.
Love Outback! Their GF menu is extensive and they even have GF chocolate thunder desert! Yum! And the tuna appetizer-no sauce is amazing!!!
Favorite GF place. Alice Spring Chicken is wonderful. Never had a problem, staff is knowledgable .
Really well trained staff on gluten free. I love this Outback as someone with celiac.
great gf menu as other outbacks. first time was great, second time i got a tad sick might have gotten contaminated :(
great gf options. just avoid the comp bread in the beginning... steak & great side choices such as baked potato, green beans, mashed potato& sweet potato all gf and they have gf dessert options
Nice that they have a GF menu but steak seasonings are not GF. So if you want a steak it comes with no seasoning whatsoever. Very bland for the quality of their steaks which are not top notch in my experience.
We eat at this location frequently and I have had good experiences. The only time I had a problem was years ago--I talked to the manager later and the next time I came in he didn't charge our entire party of four for the meal. The BBQ ribs are delicious and the Chocolate Thunder Down Under is a great way to end a meal!
They even have a gluten free brownie with ice cream for dessert. And let me tell you it is amazing!!!
I eat at Outback with gluten & dairy allergies all the time. They have a separate menu just for gluten free foods and it is extensive! It is one of the places you can have many choices! I have not had any cross contamination problems, but be sure you tell the server about your allergies. The food is great and service is too.
why? oh why??? do they bring the bread after you tell them you want the gluten free menu?
One five-star rating, eh? I wonder. Well, I decided to be generous and give outback 2 stars. One for serving somewhat edible food and the second for being early to jump on the gluten-free bandwagon without doing much of anything beyond offering to serve you a mediocre steak, potato and salad sans their mostly wheat-based gawd-awful seasonings. Folks, this is outback––that pseudo aussie accent somehow convinced a certain segment to pay a big price for fast-food served on a plate... by gum-popping teenagers working their first jobs. I guess it's better than starving when you're are out of options, but not much. Just go to a REAL restaurant and order a steak, potato and salad without croutons... last time I checked these items were inherently GF. If a steak is good, all you need is salt, pepper and some butter. I like teenagers just fine too, but they're better suited to mickey-d's. And they never get the accent right.
Pretty decent menu, typically though it just informs you to not order this or order certain food items a certain way.
I ordered the outback special steak (a sirloin) and asked to have it seasoned with only salt & pepper. If you order it like that it comes woodfire grilled so you get the lovely grill marks and smokey flavor. I ordered it with the garlic mashed potatoes and grilled asparagus. Also they usually bring bread to the table so just ask your waiter to not bring any. My food tasted good but it was hard to cut through my steak even with the gigantic steak knives they have at the table. overall good experience!
The mahi is great they know and understand the complete gf issues. Really good price and good portions
Now they just need to figure out a gf blooming onion
Nice staff they had the updated g-free menu. The wait was rly long for a take out. Ordered a chicken and shrimp salad 4 pieces of shrimp and a small piece of chicken. After ordering g-free they still gave me a loaf of bread. Stomach not feeling well but don't know if it was from them or from something earlier. Still like the house salad better.
Delicious! Excellent selection, and HUGE gf menu which even includes two desserts!
Staff is very understanding, and they take there time to do everything right. The steak is to DIE FOR, and t)3 salad was
They were very concerned about food allergies and very careful with my dinner
Their Manager was very accommodating and took the time to talk about their kitchen and their process. Had their steak, potatoes and veggies. Pain free and enjoyable!
They have a separate gf menu so be sure to ask for one when the hostess seats you. They had a lot of choices on the menu but since i was traveling, i had a caesar salad to be safe - ordered without croutons and dressing on the side. My meal was very good and i'd go there again to try something else
For GF kids this is just so so. No dedicated frier. Waitress didn't know about GF, but did ask and got good info. No GF bread or buns and bread was brought to table without asking. Salad was worst Ive had in a restaurant, limp lettuce, minimal toppings.
Great attention to ensuring there was no gluten exposure or cross-contamination at all. Food was great. Service is always spot on at this location.
Knowledge is spotty when it comes to gf issues. Some servers are very knowledgeable, others dont have a clue. I had one waitress who tried to insist that the tiny chinese noodles all over my salad were gf. Unfortunately, I didnt notice them right away either and got sick. They did try to make it right by comping meal and giving us a certificate for a future visit. We had to get insistent first though. Will be a while before I try again.
VERY DISAPPOINTING! Writing this review as we sit waiting for our dinner. Waited 40 min when they said 15 to get table. Server not very knowledgeable about GF. Tried to be accommodating but was all over the place. Had to wait 20 min to get a drink after asking 3 times. Still waiting for meal, not convinced it will be as we ordered it,very skeptical. Hoping for the best. Stay tuned....ok...so dinner came and as feared did not come out as ordered. We had to ask for mustard 3 times until the manager came over herself and replaced one entree and for our trouble took it off the bill. Just sitting and waiting we kept hearing multiple servers apologize for lots of different things. While they tried to accommodate this is not a place I would recommend or go back to. That is unfortunate because it is the only advertised GF restaurant in this area.
The gluten free menu here is great, although it doesn't include prices, so you have to keep cross-checking with the regular menu if you're on a budget. However, the choices are extensive and the food is good. Unfortunately, the service I received was not stellar. The server was nice enough, but it took an hour and fifteen minutes for her to bring our check after she cleared our plates... Ridiculous!
They even have a gluten free chocolate brownie dessert! Yum!
I love it
Love this place!! Never gotten sick there. Staff very helpful, understanding and knowledgeable. Now if they could just take the peanuts out of the brownie.
Worst gluten free dining experience I've ever had. Put croutons in my salad, I sent it back for a new salad. It was brought to me with crouton crumbs on it. Meal came with wrong sides that were not gf. Offered to give me a dessert, then forgot. When it came they forgot the ice cream. Manager was defensive and annoyed with me for some reason. Horrible! Next time I visit corpus I will cook my own meals, they're too behind the times here.
They have great gluten free options!!! And a flourless brownie!!!
MANY GF options, I was overwhelmed by the choices. The staff was incredibly helpful. Our order got mixed up and we received a dinner that contained gluten but the staff quickly resolved it and was apologetic. We will be going back again.
It was wonderful, had a GF menu. Great desert
Got immediately sick after eating here. I haven't had any success eating out since I was diagnosed with celiac disease. I guess its too risky when your own two hands aren't preparing the food. I'm sure kitchen staff aren't fully aware of cross contamination.
Honestly this is the best gluten free restaurant I've found. First of all they have a real menu, not just the whole "order without bread" thing. Desserts and even alcoholic drinks. The staff really take time to get to know you and know a lot about celiac and being gluten-free. A must have for any one gluten-free!
The service is great & I can count on the consistency of my food being GF. Haven't had a decent Gluten free dessert in a while? Wait no more, Thunder from Down Under does not disappoint! Ask them to hold the ice cream if you need it dairy free, still yummy without it!
I love coming here.
I live in Atlanta, work in the food service industry as a food safety educator/consultant and I am gluten-free. I drive past 2 other Outback locations to drive nearly 20 miles to visit this Outback. They have an extended GF menu and a staff that is well versed in the nuances of cross-contamination. They also have a dedicated fryer and all my gluten eating friends say that a Gluten Free Bloomin' Onion is much tastier than regular one.
This is by far the best gluten free option in Roswell. The entire staff is very well trained on gluten free items and they have dedicated areas for preparation and cooking. This particular outback also has several additional items they prepare gluten free (more than most of the Outbacks). One of the manager's there has Celiac so they have perfected many of their menu items. This is my fave gluten free dining option!
Great gluten free options and understandable about it.
I've been to the Aurora location several times and lately, it seems they have had trouble with getting my GF order to be GF. I always alert the waiter/waitress about my food alergy, and within 5 minutes the manager comes to the table with their canned speech about how they will personally ensure my meal is prepared correctly. That song and dance routine has really fallen flat for me, since it often takes several tries for them to get a GF meal to me- usually after the rest of my party has finished their entire meal. No apology from the manager, but they blame the cooks instead. No comped meal either.
Great gf menu but food is most days not the best.
The kitchen is very helpful with menu options!
Occasional mistakes by waitstaff but consistent support from management. The local support group, Gluten Free Erie eats there regularly.
amazing!!! biggest gluten free menu and very good about keeping things cooked gluten free friendly!!!
Real GF menu, shocking amount of items available, including Thunder from Down Under "flourless" brownie sundae. Make sure you do not get seasonings of veggies.
Average. After years of being aware of gluten allergies, I was hoping that the menu would change or expand. It is hard to comprehend why seasonings cannot be made gluten free. Also would frequent more often if a gluten free bread, croutons, etc. we're offered. It is time for a dedicated fryer.
Good food, decent selection and no problems
This is one place I know I can go and have a sit down meal with either family or friends. I always specify that a gluten free menu is needed before being seated. My particular location does offer a gluten free dessert. They do not offer any type of gluten free bread or beer. Seeing that they do have a full operational bar, I don't understand why a gluten free beer can't be offered.
I have gone here for years for gluten free meals. They even have gluten free bread I don't understand why they don't carry red bridge by Budweiser though?
Always great service & has gluten free menu, foods good. I recommend shrimp on the barbie
Great food, great menu, and a very accommodating staff. I've been to this location in Robinson and another in Ohio, and both were great by all measures.
Extensive gluten free menu, but poorly trained staff. I have tried to eat here several times, each time thinking that maybe the last time was just bad luck, but I end up sick every time. Too bad - the company itself has made a great effort to provide a menu for us celiacs, to the point of making their fabulous signature dessert gluten free. I only wish that the staff understood the importance of avoiding cross-contamination.
They served me the wrong plate and it was NOT GF. I ate it before they figured out the mistake, and I had an awful reaction. The manager wanted to make it right (I just wanted my money back). They told me to call and I did, they never responded or gave me my money back. I don't recommend the Syracuse, NY location.
The server and the chef were very helpful with finding a great option and, made me a wonderful meal that was gluten, soy and corn free. Delicious too! Nom nom!
The food is great and I have never had any issues after eating at Outback. They are always very nice and helpful.
Great menu and choices. Very knowledgeable about the gluten free lifestyle.
Lots of gluten free choices, excellent food!!
Love the Alice Spring's GF chicken, and the yummy chocolate dessert!!
Absolutely fabulous! Ribs, Alice Springs Chicken & Chocolate Thunder From Down Under ALL gluten free!!!
Wonderfully diverse gf menu! Even has kids gf and desert menu. Server very knowledgable and helpful at every step of our meal. One of the few chain restaurants I trust the food not being contaminated for our daughter and she LOVES the ribs with a side of broccoli.
Great staff, sensitive and aware. Gluten free menu, available online too for planning ahead!
Staff is very attentive, there is a lot of gluten free options on the menu
Good amount of gluten free options
Mahi was not made like the menu stated. It was so salty I couldn't eat it. Baked sweet potato was watery and like mush. Left hungry.
I don't much care for the food, but my wife who has celiac likes it a lot.
They have a huge GF menu
I normally always have a great experience at outback, never gotten sick. one crazy thing at this one was I got a fry on my plate by accident and I reported it since I ate half the plate b/f I found it and they are not on the GF menu. the manager came out and swore to me the fries are GF, cooked separately etc. the next time I ordered fries and a different manager told me they were not fried separate. frustration! I don't know what the deal is but I didn't get sick
They have a brownie sundae that is Gluten free!! So amazing!! GF food is good as well!! Don't like that the restaurant is really dark!!
Very knowledgable staff. Great menu.thank you
Great GF menu, the staff is generally knowledgable. I ask for a manager if I don't think the wait person is up to speed and I've never been "glutened" here.
great menu and the food is the best.
Love their GF menu...friendly staff and service.
I wasn't very impressed with this location. only because they didn't have redbridge which I have always known outbacks to carry, and they discontinued offering the gf bread! However, our server was amazing and went beyond necessary to make sure we were taken care of. Also my steak was great so I can't complain about that!
always awesome and seperate gf menu.
Great food, service and the best gluten free desert!
This location has poor service and the food is mediocre.
they have a gluten free menu. most servers know what a gluten free diet entails.
I have eaten here many times without a cross contamination issue.
So many options and absolutely delicious. The GF brownie for dessert is AMAZING!
There is a full gf menu that shows how meals can be modified and meals naturally gf. They have gf drinks and even a gf beer at this store!
There are no prices on the menu so it feels like they may charge you more and all the options have side notes that you need to tell the waiter to tell the chef to make sure to cook your food this way or that. I think if you order from a special menu it should just be known. The food was awesome though if it's not a regular spot.
Great for celiacs. Staff well trained in handling GF food
Huge gluten free menu and don't miss the chocolate thunder from down under! Loved the ribs!!
every time i have gone the waitress knew as soin as i said gluten free exactly what i could have. they have the best bbq sauce and all their condiments are gluten free. i always have a great experience every time i go.
they know. they understand celiac. wonderful experience. have been to outback in several states and same good service everywhere
Gluten Free Menu was great. Waiter had a very thorough understanding of Celiac. One correction is that one of the reviews has they have GF bread, hamburger buns, & hot dog buns. This is incorrect, they do not. But everything was wonderful.
I was pleasantly surprised to see the diverse menu options. I actually felt 'normal' while dining with my friends. Will definitely come back. They even were very attentive to my other allergies including tomato and pork. Thanks a million!
love love love outback!!!
expensive and nothing realy for kids unless they want a plain dry steak or chicken breast.
yummy GF chocolate cake!
Best all-inclusive gluten free menu! ALMOST HALF the menu is available gluten free! Not the greatest location for an outback, but quick and easy to access! I've ordered curbside twice and they got the order right and everything was wonderful! I even got the seared ahi Tuna appetizer and It was just as great as any fancy restaurant in town and was under $10! I am new to the Gluten allergy world, and I think I might have to eat that at least once a day!
very good at making sure there is no cross contimation
Lots of options and they even have a chocolate cake that's GF!
Yummy chocolate desert!!
outstanding service and food
Always excellent service. Great GF options.
cook came out to table to verify allergy. prepared separately from others
this place is awesome. never been sick
super busy which makes me nervous. they have messed up my food once so i do not go to this one. love the one in carrolwood though!
Awesome GF menu, I have gone many times without having any issues with cross contamination. Great options and quite a few items to choose from, they also have GF dessert! And they have Redbridge beer :)
Really great menu, great staff, and not very expensive!
Our server was wonderful and had all the gluten free options memorized! Great meal for all of us and no cross contamination!
has an extensive gf menu and it includes desert
I would not eat here again. They are not cautious about gf at all at this location.
Great job. Love there dessert option!
never disappointed. love the separate menu & a dessert offering, too!
Easy place to eat. Gluten free menu with desert is always nice.
i have dined at numerous outback steakhouses and across board the wait staff is poorly trained/educated re: gluten free diet. it was esp apparent at this location. waitress seemed bothered by my request for a gluten free salad. brought out incorrect salad and when manager notified waitress of mistake she commented, "some people are crazy." Clearly lack of education & major attitudes.
They had an actual "Gluten Free" menu instead of a lousy print out from their web site. Every employee seemed to have some sort of knowledge to meet our needs.
Gluten-free menu. Knowledgable staff; have NEVER had a problem at any location. Chicken with bacon & cheese with sauce is FANTASTIC, and save room for chocolate thunder dessert - heaven! I am a VERY sensitive Celiac, and paranoid about eating out, but this is my favorite restaurant!
Need to add gluten-free beer to the menu.
Gluten free brownie dessert. Need I say more?
Extensive gluten free menu.
As always, great food, good prices, and no gluten reaction.
Every waitperson we have had seemed very educated and confident about there menu / prep. Love having an actual menu! And the thunder from down under dessert!!!! Yum!
Had the GF baby back ribs n they were great!! Along with the sweet potatoe. I enjoyed my whole meal
As with the other Outback Steakhouses I've encountered, they have a gluten free menu and the servers know enough to keep me worry free.
Always tasty and treated nicely when asking about the special gluten free menu.
Great variety on the GF menu!
Staff was knowledgeable and food was prepared GF. Great job.
The staff at this location are well trained in providing GF meals. I eat here often and always safely. My favorite is the ribs and honey mustard chicken combo.
Excellent GF options and great tasting
I luv going to outbacks they have good steak there the service wad okay
They have a ton of choices and are familiar with gluten allergies. Just ask for there gluten free menu
very careful with your food
Good gluten free menu, not good service.
Best Outback I have been to. They are helpful, friendly, and accommodating.
Thank goodness for Outback! I have celiac and never get sick from dining there.
One of my regular GF hangouts. They always have taken great care of me here. Nice GF menu lots of choices and dessert!
I eat here all the time. Excellent, just as you come to expect from this chain.
Awesome! always a safe choice. they give their staff training on what it means to do glutenfree foods. they are very knowledgeable in several different locations ranging from Montana to Mississippi. love the wallabedarn! and flourless brownies
LOVE eating there because their GF menu is extensive! Plus, they have a GF desert that is not just ice cream!
