PJs clam chowder is gluten free and yummy! The indoor board menu does not indicate GF options but their online menu is very clear about what can be made gluten free.

This used to be my favorite cape spot pre-diagnosis, but I’ve switched to Mac’s because they’re much more celiac safe. However, PJ’s has the BEST soft serve and clam chowder. I still come here for those options. Just a warning about the ice cream: they don’t have gf cones and the toppings are cross contaminated so stick with soft serve in a cup.

Despite the reviews we figured we'd try after seeing they have a dedicated fryer. While really knowledgeable about ingredients, I got my Lobster roll on a GF bun that was toasted on the GRILL TOP. Yikes! We asked and they weren't too happy about making it again due to cross contamination. After all the questions we asked and all the info they provided during our ordering process I was shocked to see this.

DO NOT TAKE THE RISK! We selected this restaurant based on reviews here and the restaurants website, they list many GF options and that they have gluten free breading. I ordered the fishwich on the gluten free roll, as we all do when ordering I asked the person taking my order that everything was indeed gfree, and she confirmed they had a dedicated fryer, rolls and breading. Well to my shock and disappointment, when my husband went to pick up our order he was told by the person handling pickups that the bun was g-free but the fish was not. Seriously?!! What if she wouldn't have told us that? So I had to settle for chicken, I asked them to please provide new fries when the sandwich was ready as they would be cold. The counter person was rude and snapped that I would need to return my current fries and they would make new. Which is understandable but the rudeness was not. They ended up giving us the current fries and returning the $1 difference in price. I waited about 15 extra minutes for my meal, better than being glutened of course, but it made my family have to wait even longer when we had already waited about 20 minutes for our original order. So if you have anything more than a mild sensitivity I would not recommend this place at all! They are way too busy to accommodate an allergy.

Ordered the grilled fish tacos and clam chowder. The lady who took my order at the window had never heard of a serious gluten "allergy" and didn't seem to believe that it was a legit concern. However, she put the allergy on the order and clarified with the chef about cross contamination. The food was good, but not the best on the Cape. The clam chowder is thin rather than creamy (not my personal preference but good nonetheless), and the corn tortillas were stale and cracking, so I ate the filling (which was great) with a fork. All in all, I didn't get sick, so that's a plus.

This place has a dedicated fryer and I'm not sure why that doesn't show up in the filters.

Great food, gluten-free chowder, and the Cajun tuna taco were out of this world!

Awesome! says my 7 year old. I agree. I have been coming to this roadside seafood spot for steamers and fried clams since my own childhood. Sadly some items are now off limits since my kids were diagnosed with celiac disease but we were thrilled with our dinner. Delicious clam chowder and lobster salad, not to mention soft serve ice cream. Best of all was the patient, attentive and kind servers who brought out their book of ingredients for us several times. Overall an unexpectedly great experience at an old favorite spot.
