Called to verify which toppings on my specialty pizza to remove to make it gluten free, then ordered online. Online allows you to remove or add ingredients (I removed the crispy onions and asked for fresh) and specify a gluten intolerance. Pizza was delicious and crust was impressive.

The only option on the menu that is gluten free is the 12" Cauliflower crust. Menu states if you have an allergy to let them know and they will take extra precautions. This is not true. The Cauliflower pizza crust is cooked in the same oven, same oven rack with no precautions taken. Not safe for gluten allergy or Celiac.

After a worker/owner told me that he couldn’t make a pizza without cc and we started to walk away, he felt the need to chase my daughter and I out to the street and told us that no one in Traverse City could do pizza gluten free. Maybe that’s true but that was really rude and insensitive.

The server knew what Celiac was, and was accommodating about it. She made a point of showing that the pizza was prepared gluten-free. She was also honest about what she could and could not promise about the food. The pizza was excellent, and while they were not eating gluten-free, my daughters enjoyed their tuna melts. The Riesling wine from Arcturos vinyards was also outstanding. I'll remember this place the next time I am in Traverse City.

Update: August 2019. Still recommend. Pizza and salads are the primary gluten-free choices, but there are a few other odds and ends. Very good food.

SO disappointed. After reading the reviews on here, we decided to try their pizza. The sauce and cheese were good, but the crust was your typical undercooked crust that has that gelatinous center. The bottom wasn’t even a tiny bit brown. My boyfriend had a regular pizza and it was “meh”. Don’t waste your money. Plenty of better places to eat in Traverse City. #FAIL

Not celiac friendly. xtamination reaction. There are warnings posted here though that it is NOT safe for celiacs or severe gluten allergies. They cite a high xtamination risk. They arent kidding. Do NOT TRUST THIS PLACE!! Im not a celiac newbie at all. If you are celiac, run!

Staff is not very knowledgable. Also though while I applaud the effort and honesty the place physically just isnt set up well for people with allergies or celiac. Its very much a pizza parlor type of thing.

The GF pizza is brought in from a third-party, and cooked on a tray -- that made me feel more confident that cross-contamination wouldn't be an issue. It was good (had cheese); crispy crust, which I like.

I'm not sure what Charles Gibbons is referring to when he claims the cook told him it was totally safe to eat there as I just talked to the manager and he told me that all pizza's share the same oven. So this place is not safe for Celiacs.

Pangea's was incredible. I'm a celiac and they actually knew what that meant!!!! I informed the waitress of my wonderful disease and she was all like 'we are like so careful when it comes to gluten man' and they hooked me up. Then the cook came out and said 'hey man I just want to let you know we kept everything separate and nothing was cross contaminated' so that was awesome. The pizza was excellent and I didn't have a reaction. I was so impressed that I bought another pizza to go and ate it for dinner.

My pizza was excellent and I didn't have any problems at all! My brother even said my GF pizza looked better than his regular one! Bonus, the popcorn they serve you when you get there is gluten free too!

We went there based on the reviews here and on their website it said celiac friendly. But before we sat down we clarified if they used fresh ingredients for gluten free pizzas and clean utensils to avoid cross contamination and they said they didn't and they couldn't ensure it was safe. Admittedly we didn't eat there but I have serious doubts it would be safe for celiacs.

While the server was not very knowledgable or helpful during ordering of GF pizza for my daughter with Celiac, I asked for the manager and he was wonderful. He reassured me that they would use fresh ingredients from the cooler, place the GF crust on tin foil during baking, and use a separate cutting station with utensils designated for GF pizzas. The pizza was wonderful and I would go back there again.

Great pizza!! I'm a sausage and mushroom girl so I asked about the gluten free status of the sausage given a previous post. The waitress checked and it was GF. I'm quite sensitive and did not have any reaction. Okay, that's not entirely true. I did have some indigestion from maybe eating too much. :)

Amazing GF pizza! Crust is good & crisp and toppings were fresh and plentiful. Sauce is very original, peppery and exceptional! Hubby's regular pizza was fabulous as well, with chewy, delicious crust and great flavor. Reasonably priced, considering Traverse City is a tourist town. Hope to be returning before the end of the week!

Great pizza! Thankfully a manager overheard my order for a deluxe pizza and told me the sausage was not gluten free, so they made my pizza without it and added another topping. Been here twice and loved it both times. They cook the pizzas on tin foil to avoid any contamination.
