Great place with a ton of GF options marked on the menu (and other allergies as well). All the food was very tasty and affordable! Highly recommend the Yuca fries, papusas, tamales, and the flan!

Amazing food!! Best Tamales, many varieties, seasonal ones too and all Gluten Free! Delicious dairy free Horchata! My daughters have celiac and two of us can’t have dairy and we can eat tons of food here! We’ve eaten here so many times and never been sick! The owner, Sylvia is amazing!

Pilar’s tamales is a great place to go if you’re gluten-free. They have great tamales and also lots of other things. I like the bean and cheese tamale And the black bean pupusa. Awesome place to go!

Pilar's is by far our favorite restaurant in Ann Arbor. We asked them to cater for our wedding and they were wonderful. If you visit the restaurant you'll find the staff extremely friendly and kind. Foods that satisfy gluten free and other dietary restrictions are clearly marked on the menu. All of their tamales and most of their other items (including desserts) are gluten free.

Words cannot even express just how wonderful it is to eat at Pilar's. As a Celiac, it is the only place in the Ann Arbor/Ypsi that I feel 100% comfortable outside of my own kitchen. Sylvia got to know me and asked great questions about CD and has family members with food allergies, so she's very aware of the risks. Most menu items are GF, with a few exceptions. There are many, many vegan options which are delicious and inventive. The fryer is dedicated for only plantains and yucca. I eat the peasant breakfast almost every Saturday, and the refried black beans are indescribably awesome. You'll never find better. The menu varies seasonally, so there are often special tamales. I love Pilar's.
