The Porterhouse is by far the most expensive restaurant we ever eat at and we go there only for big celebrations - once every couple of years. We've been happy with the quality of food and expertise and excellent service of it's wait staff. That is until I was diagnosed with Celiac disease. I read the other reviews here and carefully inquired ahead of time and throughout the meal about my options to have a clean meal. My first disappointment was that there were no gluten free breads or crackers.-REALLY? There were also no gluten free and dairy free desserts. There was also no printed gluten free menu- just some notes for the waitress. I had a simple meal of prawns/filet mignon with caramelized onions and the spinach salad and broccoli as my vegetable. I did have a spoon of my DH's mashed potatoes - before he ate them.

I went to bed feeling bloated but hoping I was just a little too full. This morning I'm sick and I'm not sure why. Was the food prepared in too close proximity with Gluten? Could it be the mashed potatoes??? How careful are they in the kitchen? A restaurant of this caliber should have a dedicated GF space as well as a menu of all GF choices to reassure their guests. I'm convinced they don't have good safe-guards in place. We won't be back until they install the necessary improvements.

The one star is for the excellent service from our wonderful waitress who was very knowledgable and did everything in her power to serve us a truly gluten free meal. She has a GF son and truly did her best for us.
