Review

I couldn’t eat here; the fryer is shared with gluten-containing foods such as mozzarella sticks, so their fries and poutine are NOT GLUTEN FREE and are NOT CELIAC SAFE.

This is not the first time that I have, when traveling, gone out of my way to visit a restaurant because people on this app said that it was gluten free and they didn’t get sick… only to be told that everything the restaurant serves is cross contaminated… and then to realize that the people who said they didn’t get sick also don’t have celiac disease. I went out of my way for nothing several times in Montréal, and have also wasted time and gotten frustrated in other cities, because non-celiacs leave these misleading reviews.

People who don’t get sick from cross contamination and who avoid gluten by preference or because of mild nonceliac gluten intolerance should try harder to respect the fact that this app is primarily useful for people with celiac disease. We depend on it to find food that is safe for us. If you don’t get sick from cross contamination, then it’s not really helpful that you write that you didn’t get sick. The questions about safety and getting sick are there so people with celiac disease can share information with others with the same disease.
