I decided to go ahead and try asking questions at the Rachael’s near my place of employment. The employee was not familiar with Celiac’s and he wasn’t sure which items were gluten free. (Rachael’s does list these items on their website, but with the employee not familiar, it made me wary about their training and carefulness, which made me very worried about getting food there. )
The rice looked like it could easily spill into the other rice trays, and Rachael’s rice does contain gluten. He pulled out another tray that was half empty when I asked him, but I just wasn’t sure because he pointed out that the falafel was vegan, and which has nothing to do with Celiacs of course. He didn’t offer to change his gloves, and I was too late to ask when I started requesting the organic spring mix, but quickly after he started putting the mix into a bowl, I told him I was not going to order and I opted to avoid eating there.
