Let me start by saying we didn’t get to eat here—they wouldn’t let me order.
We went here because of the reviews and I planned on ordering exactly what others ordered in the reviews. We got seated, ordered drinks & I ordered of the allergen menu (which was very hard to understand).
The other tables that were around us & ordered after us quickly got their drinks and we didn’t get ours. Instead, the waitress brings someone from the kitchen who was angry and raising her voice (and not like regular German coldness, this was clearly different.) She told me I couldn’t order those things since no one can truly guarantee that anything is gluten free??? And that she’s done her research and that there was no such thing as not being able to have gluten.
She left a menu on the table and walked away. We were so confused and when we went to try to order again with the waitress, she told us the kitchen said no. And after all that we still didn’t have our drinks.
We were so confused & started to get upset & we just left. I hope that everyone else can continue to have a good experience but also just wanted to let people know what happened to us.
Amazing experience! Waiter was extremely helpful and accommodating, and ensured we had a good understanding of the gluten free menu. Even though there were not many gluten free options, the food was delicious and served very quickly. Would definitely recommend coming here for an authentic german experience with quality gluten free options and exceptional hospitality.

Didn't exactly inspire confidence for GF safety, but I'm glad we went for the iconic experience. I asked for an allergen menu, but the server just flipped through the multi-page menu and pointed out items she said would be GF. I believe there was one wurst option, in appetizer or entre form, plus a few salads. My meal was tasty, and it was my teenagers' favorite restaurant on our trip.

I had the lamb bratwurst and an avocado side. Food was delicious and their is an allergen menu. It might be the worst allergen menu I’ve ever seen but at least it’s there 🤷♀ items marked with a 1 CONTAIN gluten, these are not the gf things. Our waiters were very helpful though and I don’t think I’ll get sick.

Not many options but the food was delicious. I had the lamb shanks and would highly recommend.
Not worth it, staff knows very little and can't find the so called "glutenfree/allergy menu. Had a cold sallad without dressing, while watching everyone else enjoying delicious food.
Fantastic separate allergies menu. My very sensitive Cealiac came through with flying colours

Once we figured out the allergen menu it was nice. The allergen menu could be confusing and it had little options. For straight sausage and potatoes it was good, especially giving the limited options in the area.

Beautiful restaurant in the lower level of the Altes Rathaus. We watched the glockenspiel at noon and then went down for lunch. Ask for the English menu and tell them you need help with gluten free and they will give you the allergen menu which you can use to look at the pictures in the English menu. All items with a 1 in the allergen menu contain gluten. That still leaves you with quite a few choices of traditional Bavarian meals. The gluten free beer also happened to be alcohol free. The server was helpful and knowledgeable. The atmosphere was outstanding. I would have given 5 stars but the two menu system is a little less than ideal but very workable.
