I explained that I had celiac disease. I grilled the waiter about how the salad was prepared and if it would be gluten free. I even asked about protocols for sharing cutting boards and knifes. He was overly enthusiastic. He kept saying “great choice! Absolutely going to love it” but never once went to the kitchen to discuss food prep. I was sick before leaving the restaurant. Within 20 minutes of eating I had terrible diarrhea. I had the salmon plank salad with basil lemon vignettes dressing.
