AVOID IF YOU’RE CELIAC. Cross contamination nightmare by people who fundamentally don’t know what they’re doing and just don’t care.

Ordered GF pad Thai at Republic last night and triple checked with server that it’s GF. Arrived with some bits of gluten contaminated fried tofu which they’re supposed to omit. Unfortunately, I had already eaten some before I noticed. The fact that there were a few bits of fried tofu tells me the problem is not that they got the order incorrect—which would have meant lots more tofu— but that kitchen prep is sloppy and cross-contamination easy. Our server expressed no concern when I pointed it out—to be honest, those people are grossly overworked anyway. But it all shows that Republic is not for celiacs. Past experience was okay, but never again after this, especially given the mediocre quality of food and that place stinks of rotting seafood.

If you want GF Chinese/Thai, go to Lilli and Loo’s instead. Italian/pasta—go to Bistango. These are two restaurants who actually know food allergies and take care and pride in the integrity of their food.

Although they have a gluten free menu, they do not have a separate prep are nor do they seem to distinguish gluten free by choice vs celiac. Our Nima sensor gave us a 'low gluten' reading after ordering an item from the gluten free menu and clarifying celiac vs dietary choice.

They put soy sauce in their "gf" items, and don't seem to understand the problem. No wonder pool got glutened!

I only went once, but I found the food to be aggressively bad. My friend and I still talk about the weirdly sour, gloppy pad Thai that was among the things we shared when we went months ago. Everyone else around us seemed to think it was ok, which was the most baffling part. I didn't get sick though so I guess it could have been worse.

Went here for lunch after a meeting in the city- had the Vegetable Pad Thai. The food was very good and the portions are large, however I experienced minor "glutening" symptoms for 24 hours afterwards. If you are not Celiac or not sensitive, this is a great option but it appears they have cross contamination issues.

Hip, bustling ambiance & a little pricey. An appetizer, 2 noodle dish entrees & 2 cocktails ran $70. They have a detailed GF menu. I tried the pad Thai based on the previous reviewer's recommendation. The noodles were overcooked to the point that they were falling apart. The flavor was fine, a little on the sweet side. I've definitely had much better elsewhere. It may have been an off night as it was Saturday night and constantly busy.
