Stopped for a late lunch on a long road trip. The area was packed with people- a really fun atmosphere. I waited for my table (they have screened-in outdoor seating overlooking the kayakers and rafters on the river) with my feet in the river. Lovely.
the server reported that they have GF buns and can "make anything gluten-free" as the menu was not labeled. at my skepticism pointing at an item named "chicken-fried-chicken", she amended, "well, maybe not anything." I asked if she could go find out what, specifically, was gluten-free and she didn't fuss about it. She returned indicating a few of the salads, sandwiches and sides. She had to go back with several more clarifying points (jerk seasoning DID have gluten, ranch dressing did NOT, regular grilled chicken was GF safe, yes I could have smashed potatoes instead of bread with my salad).
I wouldn't say I felt perfectly at ease as I waited for my grilled chicken salad, but the excellent (and generous) cocktail helped distract me. And I was completely uninterested in the tuna and rice crackers that had been staring at me from my emergency GF food stash for the past 2 hours. That just wasn't going to happen.
The salad was pre-dressed and was pretty soupy. but the greens and veggies were fresh below their heavy coating of ranch. The serving of potatoes was generous and had a nice texture. The chicken was flavorful and not dry. Server remained friendly despite the MANY questions I asked her.
I didn't get sick.
All in all, it was the best option for miles and it turned out ok.
