There isn't a gluten-free menu at this restaurant. Most staff had no idea about gluten/celiac disease but after struggling to order something, one staff member offered to cook my veggies on a grill with tin foil so he had some knowledge but safe food is very limited at best. Pretty much all food is cooked on the same grill that the wheat tortillas are on. I won't bother eating there again - not worth taking the chance.
Their marinades for the meats all contain gluten and the risk of cross-contamination on the grill is very high.
It had been such a long time since I visited Rubio's and WOW>>> was I PLEASANTLY surprised. It has gotten BETTER... by a HUGE margin. Shrimp enchiladas... and they were delicious. The restaurant was very clean and the music was soft and pleasant. The staff was constantly aware of their customers needs and they maintained their customer service pointlessness through all of the noise from some "wild children" in their restaurant. I will be back...over and over again. Thank you for being there when I was hungry.
I told them I was celiac. They said they could not guarantee cross contamination. They couldn't even provide me the ingredient list for the salad I ordered. Not a favorable experience.
I literally just got turned away because the cashier said they do not offer ANY Gluten free options. He even went to ask the manager who confirmed this. Very disappointing.
Two days ago I was refused service and told "I need to go somewhere else" when I asked if they could use clean gloves due to me having Celiac. Rubio's advertises a GF menu online, so I thought they'd be at least familiar with it. Nope. Too bad they've lost a potential loyal customer.
Cashier was very friendly and when I asked what came in certain items she knew and when I told her I was gluten and dairy free she went down each item on the list and made sure I was ok... Much better than other places I have been.. She at least knew what gluten was
Not Recommended. I asked for a gf menu, the girl couldn't find it so she asked the manager. The manager was clueless and said it's under construction so they don't have it. Wasn't nice about it or anything. And was rather annoyed at me for asking. The girl was sweet and started naming off what she remembered was gf and said she would mention to the cooks to keep mine separate. But it irritates me that the manager was in such a hurry to shut me down that his employees knew more about the menu then he cared to remember. And his employee was making more effort to be nice then he was.
Asked for gluten free menu, was told "ugh, I'll have to print it", stomped off with manager who said "we offer nothing gluten free, the menu being updated". Very disappointing when all the competitors offer gluten free something?!? Don't come here! No knowledge! NO EFFORT OR COURTESY
