Saltgrass Steak House

This Texas Salt Grass is hit & miss! Went 2 weeks ago and everything was great. Waitress was spot on about GF issues.

Went there yesterday, ordered a GF/DF burger ... on the GF menu ... they brought me a regular BBQ cheeseburger. I questioned the young man about the bun & he told me he entered it into the machine under GF. The manager did come out b/c I could look at that bun and tell it was not a GF bun. While the rest of the table ate, I waited for my food. Glory be, the bun was definitely different from what I was originally served & had been microwaved to the point I could not bite into it! For real! As I said, the meal before was fine ... except again they offered a GF bun as bread option & it was not as hard, but still wasn't worth the calories.My conclusion, skip anything with GF bread, otherwise a decent place to eat. Do ask for server with GF knowledge!!!

I love this place! It makes it even better that I don’t have to just sit and watch others eat bread, but I get my own that is GF and very tasty! Lots of great options here!

I’ve never been so shocked at how clueless the service was. 1) I can’t eat gluten, which I told my waiter. He told me he didn’t even know what that was. He also proceeded not to mention it to the kitchen so two items were brought out with gluten-filled items on them (ie, croutons on salad, fried onions on steak). My steak was overdone. It came out medium-well. When brought back it, it had fried onions on it. Back it went again. The third time it was done right. I was also charged extra for grilled asparagus. My server never told me there was an up-charge. Happy to pay it, but information like that is useful when ordering instead of saying “your order comes with one side.” Very disappointed in this place considering it had good reviews.

They have a wide selection of gluten free items. The staff is knowledge and even offered gluten free bread, which was very tasty.

A gluten free menu with false information on it is worse for a celiac than no information at all and just asking the manager. You think you can order safely but it's all a lie. The gluten free menu has shrimp enbrochete, with bacon wrap and bbq sauce. While on the GF menu it is not GF. I spoke with managers at 2 stores (cypress and katy) and the shrimp are deep fried in oil that is not gluten free.

If you are gluten free as a choice, maybe saltgrass is OK, but if you have celiac or gluten is going to make your sick, this is terrible that they claim something is GF when in fact it is NOT gluten free.

And as a side note don't ever order the fries. They claim they are GF and cooked in a dedicated fryer but after getting my fries with onion ring batter in it over and over I gave up. They always had an excuse as to how that could of happened but the fact of the matter is they cannot safely get me GF french fries. Even if you don't SEE batter, their dedicated fryer has oil in it that has had the major particulate filtered out only. They don't filter out gluten and then they put this grease in the "gluten free" fryer. Be forewarned.

Delicious Watermelon Fresca Margarita & Potato Soup! Salmon Caesar Salad was just ok.

I ordered ribs with mashed potatoes and salad from their GF menu. The waitress was very helpful and checked on dressings for me.

Had a dedicated gf menu with lots of options. Even brought out gf bread and butter. Good service and food was good. Had a steak and grilled shrimp with wedge salad and baked potato. Yum
