I wrote to Sauced asking about the labelling issue. This is the response I got:

We've had a lot of questions about this. Several months ago I contacted our co packer and manufacturer of our BBQ sauce to get an answer and I found out that we did switch to a malt free Worcestershire sauce back in June of last year for all of our in house BBQ sauces. It was an error on our part not removing the "malt vinegar" from that label. That is technically my jurisdiction since I designed and maintain the label files for print so I take full responsibility for that. I will remove it on the next run of labels.

However, when I asked our co packer how we were able to previously label the product gluten free, I was given this answer:

"The malt vinegar is an ingredient within the Worcestershire sauce that we use to make the BBQ sauces, NOT in the BBQ sauce itself but in the Worcestershire sauce used to make the BBQ sauce. The FDA allows food manufacturers to label the product “Gluten Free” when the ingredient is less than 20 ppm." So because our malt vinegar sub ingredient fell below the 20 parts per million, we were still able to label the product "gluten free."

I understand that having food allergies makes navigating menus difficult and you have to put a lot of trust into those preparing and serving your food. I myself have a shrimp allergy so I am really sympathetic to your situation. I will make sure our next run of labels removes the malt vinegar from the ingredient list and I will make sure our managers are clear on this so they can educate our staff so that our staff, in turn, can answer questions accurately. We really do our best to make sure we communicate food ingredients and preparation techniques to our guests to avoid this very situation. Again, I hope you will accept our sincere apology for any miscommunication.

Hopefully this alleviates people's concerns. It seems like the sauce has been changed, and the food labelled Gluten Free on the menu is safe. Can confirm my gf ate there and she was fine.
