I recently had the pleasure of dining at Shaker + Spear with a non-gluten-free companion, and I must say, it was an absolute delight from start to finish. The restaurant's commitment to accommodating various dietary needs, including gluten-free options, was evident from the moment we walked in.The menu boasted ample options for both gluten-free and non-gluten-free diners, and the knowledgeable staff made navigating the choices a breeze. What truly stood out was the presence of a gluten and dairy-free chef, ensuring that every dish was crafted with care and attention to dietary restrictions without compromising on flavor. Now, let's talk about the food - each dish was a masterpiece in both presentation and taste. We started with the hamachi and charred octopus, both of which were fresh, flavorful, and perfectly complemented by accompanying sauces and garnishes. The octopus, in particular, was a standout with its tender texture and delightful charred notes. For our main courses, we indulged in the pork chop and carrot risotto. The pork chop was cooked to perfection, juicy on the inside with a crispy exterior, and the smoked spring onions at the base added a wonderful depth of flavor. As for the carrot risotto, it was a delightful surprise - creamy, yet light, with a subtle sweetness from the carrots that danced on the palate. I added scallops which were about as succulent as they could be. Of course, no meal is complete without dessert, and the peach cobbler did not disappoint. It was the perfect ending to a fantastic meal, with tender peaches nestled beneath a buttery, gluten-free crust.

Great food but shared fryer. Many items labeled gluten free are not safe for people with celiac.

We ordered an item with a substitution to remove crispy shallot from the shared fryer. The restaurant accidentally delivered the version containing gluten. They caught the mistake right as we were about to bite in. Not sure what procedures (if any) are in place.
