Shorty's True American Roadhouse

I've been to Shortys for the first time last month, and once this month. I am about to take my third trip. Needless to say I have been pleasantly surprised by how delicious everything i have ordered has been thus far. Their beef ribs are to die for. Their baked beans are very savory, and their mac n cheese is surprisingly cheesy and tender.

There are many options here, however, anything deep fried; fries, onion straws, wings, chips, etc., not GF. No GF buns or cornbread. (Although my non-GF spouse said the cornbread muffins & the Shorty Burger were awesome). I had the Idaho pork potato & it was Excellent! The spicy BBQ sauce is awesome. All sauces, meats & many sides are GF. Unfortunately, cross contamination was experienced by this celiac. ☹

The food! Chicken wings were the first act and were smokey, tender and such a treat!! 10 out of 10 !!! No sauce needed! Beef ribs had a great sauce that was deep, sweet and the ribs were tender and best I’ve ever eaten out! Brisket was good. My least favorite of our meats, but was a good sized serving. It wasn’t as tender as I’m used to down south and not very well smoked. but I’m a Texas brisket snob so it takes a lot for me to rave about brisket. It’s as good as any I have in the Northern states. I also got potatoe salad and coleslaw. Appeared to be house made and were flavorful and fresh! Fresh chives in the potatoe salad! Love it! Good quality mayonnaise is soooo worth the money!

Now for the body response!!! 10 out of 10!! No bloating, belching, bowl issues, headache, shortness of breath! Nothing adverse! Like eating at home in my fresh cooked, gluten free environment! I’ll be back when we are in the area! You betcha! Thank you!!

Congratulations on some fine staff members! I called to confirm my ability to dine safely with allergies. Jessica answered the phone and was pleasant, reassuring and competent! Gave us detailed directions! Amazing customer service! When we arrived she remembered us and greeted us as old friends. She was understanding and unphased when I needed a different table due to other customers strong perfumes. Just lovely! Thank you Jessica!

Deanna S was our waitress and continued the lovely, authentic, engaged, educated, compassionate care. It’s really a big crap shoot for me to dine out. My allergies are sensitive to gluten, pork and the histamine level, which is based on freshness of the food. I asked Deanna to confirm that the chicken wings(finished on the grill not fried in a non-dedicated fryer), the brisket and the beef ribs were all fresh. We were assured that everything is fresh from the smoker. All these requests were eagerly confirmed and I was confident in the answers and not shamed for asking for what I needed. A rare and delightful experience.

Thank you for training your staff, being smart and competent with freshness and not cross contaminating glorious BBQ that soooo many restaurants ruin!! Keep up the good cooking! Hubby & son have celiac. We have been going here for years since going GF. Very happy with how they handle their food. Love the food and GF selection. A favorite "go to " for family gatherings.

bbq isn't very good. I had dry ribs with mild irritation. I wouldn't ever eat here again. selection is not good

Shorty's is a Mancy restaurant, and has a great Gluten free selection. All meats are Gluten free. Ribs, chicken, steaks, brisket. They also have a great selection of sides. I have Celiacs and have eaten here several times with no reaction.
