Silver Rice was a pre-celiac favorite and I was so glad to be able to order from there again. In person, their menu indicates which items are GF. When ordering online, that menu does NOT indicate which items are gluten free, but I called and asked them for the info and they kindly texted me a photo of the menu. When placing my digital order I made a note of the Celiac and they sent a GF soy sauce a packet with my order, which was a nice indicator that they actually read my note.
For cross contact issues, avoiding anything crispy will be important. I also avoided the wasabi because I wasn’t confident that it didn’t have gluten (unfortunately sometimes it does). Ordered the spicy tuna bowl and did not have any reaction.
Their menu does note that they prepare everything in a shared kitchen and therefore cannot 100% guarantee safety for severe allergies. That said, that’s true of most NYC restaurants unless they’re dedicated gluten-free. After talking to someone on the phone and making notes on my digital order, as well as using some discretion in what I ordered, I felt it was a pretty safe choice regardless of the shared kitchen.

Edit: got glutened after being very specific and asking them to take care. Dropped review stars down. Still an option if you want to take a risk.

I’ve eaten here several times without incident. Servers tend to be understanding, though as one reviewer said—less so when it’s busy. Once I got sick when I didn’t request them to take precautions. I attribute that to my own fault, but it is testament to the fact that cross contamination is a risk. Things I’ve eaten safely include the fisherman’s bowl and various sushi rolls.
They have gf soy sauce and most of their rolls are gf. Just don’t eat the spicy mayo (it is indicated as non gf in store, but not online. Get the macro roll!!
Yes
I had the worst experience with this place - I called ahead to see if they could accommodate and they said they’d be happy to wash cutting boards/be careful to avoid cross contamination. I let her know I was going to order using seamless and she told me to put a note in. We ordered, waited 40 minutes and then she called back saying they were too busy to clean the cutting boards. She asked if they could just put down plastic wrap and I said that’d be fine. She talked to the kitchen and then told me they were also too busy to put down plastic wrap. She told me she would refund me and this morning I saw no refund but rather a charge for an additional $15. Maybe this would be better if you go to the restaurant, but my experience trying to order online with them was miserable.
spicy tuna and salmon cups are gluten free as well as a bunch of other items and alcohol
