Silver Salmon Grille

The menu didn’t indicate gluten free items and they do not have a separate gluten free menu. I asked the server if she could help me and she did not know what was or was not gluten free. She asked if I can have flour. No, I cannot. And it went downhill from there. She did go back to the kitchen to inquire about the salad dressing. And then the special, which was salmon. And then the clam chowder which is not GF. So by the time we ate I wasn’t feeling confident. I would NOT recommend this place.

The Silver Salmon Grille is a true gem! We landed there two nights ago after a terrible experience at another local restaurant that didn’t result in an edible dinner. We feel so fortunate to have been able to walk in and get a table since they’re operating at limited capacity and it’s the type of place where you should book a reservation. We were seated in Heidi’s section - we loved Heidi. She was so warm, welcoming, and funny. They were out of the bottle of wine we initially ordered but she was right there with an alternate recommendation that turned out to be the perfect complement to our food. When I let her know I needed to make sure my food was all safely GF, she took care of me. She even made sure to ask if I wanted her to save a slice of the vegan/gf coconut cake that was almost gone - which I did - and I don’t even care if that was an upset tactic to move the cake. It was delicious. For my entree, I had the grilled salmon, garlic mashed potatoes, and green beans. It was all wonderful; the salmon was cooked exactly like I asked (rare side of medium). My husband (non-GF) had the blackened salmon and he enjoyed it as much as I did mine. If we ever find ourselves back in Astoria, we’ll definitely visit the Silver Salmon again.
