Smashburger

Grabbed a burger before my flight to New York. Now it’s the middle of the night and I’m so sick. Will never eat there again

How would you rate the taste and quality of the gluten-free food you tried?

— Poor

A good and bad experience here: good because the cashier immediately knew what to do when I said I have Celiac but bad because it was so expensive (it’s in an airport so to be expected). They have GF Udi’s buns for an extra $2 that are toasted separate from regular buns. The grill is only used for cooking burger patties so there’s no cross-contamination. They have a separate fryer for just fries, but the cashier told me it’s right next to the regular fryer so there’s a risk of splatter - I chose not to risk it. I got my burger without ketchup or Smash sauce (I didn’t ask whether they’re GF or not). The cashier also personally walked back to the kitchen to make sure the cooks knew to change their gloves and clean surfaces. Overall the burger was a little meh but it got the job done and I didn’t have a reaction.

Wanted to order the gluten-free bun, but the buns were frozen. Staff unable to thaw bun.

Person in front checked and said yes fries are in it's own fryer. Had the bacon burger on gluten free bun. Sooooo good!! Had no gluten issues. 🎉 Yum. Definitely will return.

I am celiac so airports are usually a nightmare finding food besides an overpriced salad. But they place not only had a gf bun but their fryer is completely separate so I could eat my fries safely! They also cleaned the shake machine so ensure they was no cross contamination from the Oreo shakes they make. It was amazing to have as an option!

Staff had no idea what I was asking for when I asked about a shared or separate fryer. Multiple people were asked by the counter person each with a guess. I was finally told they don't have GF buns and that's all they knew. I would avoid.

Would totally recommend. Separate fryer for the fires and tots, only the meat and GF bun is allowed in the frier(other buns go through a toaster). The wait staff was super careful and knowledgeable. I had the classic double (GF Bun) and sweet potato fries.

They do have gluten free buns, but I asked for a lettuce wrap instead and they were happy to do that for me. She asked if it was an allergy, and when I said yes she told me she was making a note so they’d know to change their gloves and take extra precautions

No gf buns at this airport location. They did however wrap my grilled chicken in lettuce. I had the tater tots as well.
