I ate here a few days ago and didn’t have any side effects. The young lady at the counter was very nice and consulted a clipboard when I asked about GF options. All their meats are GF but only the vinegar sauce was safe and quite unremarkable. Fortunately, the brisket was amazing in its own! As far as safe sides: the hoppin’ john, slaw and beans were safe. I had the slaw and hoppin’ john and they were fine. As stated in a previous review, you need to tell them not to put bread or a roll on your plate.

Great place to go for a gluten free option. Make sure to remind them that you can not have a roll placed on your plate. They are very good about it, when they are told ahead of time. Great food in a fun atmosphere.

Had a GF menu. But upon further questioning the wings are not gf or fries bc they are in shared fryer. All meats were GF. Had potato salad and chips. All celiacs were safe.

I want to update the information on Southern Soul. The meats are gluten free if without sauce. The only sauce that is gluten free is the vinegar based and the only side that is gluten free is the collard greens. The coleslaw is no longer GF.

For a BBQ place the GF options were very slim. All the meats are GF but the only side available GF is the coleslaw. The only sauce that is GF is the vinegar base one. We were told the fries were GF but are fried in with the hush puppies which makes them not GF. If you are looking for a real BBQ experience look elsewhere.
All of their DELICIOUS meats are gluten free, along with 3 of their BBQ sauces (the vinegar sauce is not gluten free). They even have more than a salad for a side. I got the collard greens and 'John's H' rice and black eyed pea side. SO GOOD! 👍
