Hi I have very sensitive celiac disease and I have eaten at this restaurant several times. I’ve never had a problem with gluten contamination. The staff take CD and allergies very seriously.

Completely vegan restaurant. Most items are gluten free or can be made gluten free. Got the ranchero with added “cheese” at brunch. So good! Patio is a great atmosphere and inside is beautiful as well.

I visited Spirited Elephant yesterday afternoon after calling earlier in the day - I spoke to a very kind kitchen staff member who answered several questions I had about their gluten free offerings - I shared I had a severe allergy/CD and was very sensitive to cross contact. Among other questions, he explained that they have dedicated gluten free fryers so the cauli-wings and fries are safe and easy items to order. He made it clear in his thorough responses that they take great lengths to prevent cross contact and I felt very comfortable (and excited) to dine there about there. A couple hours later, when my party and I arrived, we had an entirely different experience. Our waitress told me that they were busy (2 pm on a Friday, ab 4 tables total with patrons inside) and couldn’t guarantee they could accommodate gluten free (despite the menu listing both items as gluten free) bc it was an allergy. I explained I recognized it wasn’t a flour free kitchen so there’s always a chance of cc. She said she’d let the chef know it was an allergy and then a man that I presume was a manager came out and rudely asked “are you the one with allergies? Yeah, our line cook says you can’t have anything from our fryer” I was rather surprised and kindly responded that I’d rather be safe than sick and appreciate the caution and wanted to mention that I’d called earlier and spoke to a gentleman who seemed very informed and assured me the fryers were dedicated gluten free so it’s surprising - I am fine to pass on the meal but want you to know so that someone else doesn’t come after inquiring by phone.” He rudely retorted that he didn’t know who I spoke to and that they didn’t have offerings they could serve me and their chef was gone for the rest of the day. It was shocking given the reviews and my experience on the phone earlier the very same day. We drove 40 min to dine there and left after this interaction. Perhaps there’s more happening behind the scenes but it was an odd and very disappointing experience, esp given how rude the staff member was.

Absolutely incredible food, desserts and drinks. So many gluten free options and great about discussing ingredients.

Dedicated fryer, most of the menu is marked gf. The fries were delicious. Brunch was great. Food marked allergy. Felt very safe.

Cauliflower wings were amazing! I got the crab cakes and my husband got a burger. We can’t wait to come back

Food is very tasty and the menu clearly shows what’s gf or what can be made gf. Had the crabcakes with fries, tested with Nima and got a happy face. Highly recommended.

I called and spoke to an employee who explained the precautions they take to ensure safety. He was very knowledgeable and guided me through the menu. The food was absolutely delicious and I can't wait to eat there again!!
