Sunset Cantina

After reading the reviews here, I was excited to try the place when my friend suggested it. However when we got there and I asked the server about celiac safe options, she said there were none! She explained that everything touches the grill at some point, which is shared with bread and other flour based foods. Even just to heat up the chicken. she said there was truly nothing that would be safe, she couldn’t even guarantee the salad but suggested it as my best bet.

Excellent tacos and very safe if you know the right questions to ask about CC. The kitchen knows which items do and do not have gluten in them. Loved the atmosphere and food!

1yr later we went back! The waitress helped us find the Gf items (my child grew up a little and wanted to be more adventurous). My child got a three taco meal w beef and a side of puréed black beans and was in HEAVEN. With no reaction!!!

This place was amazing! We did online ordering because we saw they had a spot to note allergies (gluten and dairy)! When I picked up our meals, the person at the register informed me that the meal I had chosen (chicken mole tacos) had butter in the dairy so they left it off and put a container of their Chile verde in the box. NO REACTION! The people at Sunset cantina took OBVIOUS care to make sure our food was safe to eat. And WOW!!! It was absolutely incredible tasting.

An affordable SF restaurant with a fun vibe. I had the chicken tostadas and aqua fresca delicious!

The server was knowledgable about gluten free items and ensure that the tacos would be gluten free with no cross contamination. The tacos were delicious and I did not have any celiac related symptoms following. Also they have great margs!
