I don't care for this place. I had a question for the manager about the ingredients of something, and heard him making comments about how dumb I am to ask such stupid questions. He didn't realize I was in ear shot. If I want a mediocre salad I'll just make it at home.
I was really excited to come here but once we did I was very sadly disappointed. The salad dressings were not labeled whether they were gf or not and when I asked, no one knew. The soups were also not labeled and they didn't know when asked about them. I don't think I'll be coming back due to the lack of care..
Salad bar of superior splendor, tasty baked potatoe/sweet potatoe station of superb topping variety, soup not labeled gf but they will gladly tell you if any of the many soups are that day. Bright atmosphere family friendly and swift sufficient table service, pricier than s.s. but you pay for variety and ambience. Plethora of drinks!
I love Sweet Tomatoes, but as it is a buffet, you need to be careful. You can always get plenty of vegetables/salad, some type of bean or coleslaw salad, at least 1 soup is usually GF, plus baked and sweet potatoes. Occasionally they have GF muffins, but I am doubtful the staff changes gloves or uses dedicated equipment before handling, and I also don't trust the tongs that may have touched other muffins by other guests. Delicious and healthy offerings if you use caution.
They had no idea about cross contact. They had a list of prepared salads on the bar that were GF, sitting right next to non GF salads. Did not feel confident enough to eat there.
Your best gf options are salad, a couple of soups (often only the chili), and baked potatoes. Cross contamination is certainly a concern. They recently had gf muffins, which were tasty, but served in the same area as the gluten muffins, even using shared tongs. I do appreciate that Sweet Tomatoes is making an effort, and I love seeing them label more things as gf. I'd love to see more progress, though! I think most of the soups could be done gf if they really wanted to.
Huge salad bar and great options! Koans broccoli madness is awesome. The Deep kettle chilli is gf too. They now have gf coconut muffins. And who can forget the soft served frozen yogurt that is also gluten-free!!! Before you go, look up "sweet tomatoes gluten-free" and the month —you will find a list of gluten-free items for the month. Just make sure not to contaminate yourself and be cautious of gluten foods next to gluten-free foods.
They don't have a dedicated gf menu but every month they have a gluten free muffin that changes. Some of the options are obvious. They do have a baked potato bar that's a safe bet.
This place is always a go to spot for us, since it doesn't inconvenience our friends or family who don't follow our diet! Plus they offer great coupons if you join their mailing list, and are even offering a gluten free biscuit for the month of January!!! Hopefully they keep their gf options coming!
This was a very good experience. Salads were amazing as was their chili and their yam soup. Many options to chose from and if you ask the staff they will bring you a list of ingredients for all of the food. Amazing buffet! My Husband has celiacs and I have a gluten sensitvity. neither of us got sick!
There are salad options but the dressings are pretty processed.
we went here after we spoke to the rep at the gf expo...they told us mangers and staff were able to handle our needs...NOT!! They bake potates in the same oven with pizza and etc. The manger kept referring to sugar...what??? sugar is not the problem...gluten is!!!
I loved it before having celiac and still do - minus the mac 'n cheese and bread. They have a blog every month on thier website that tells you what is gluten free. Although not every monththey list thier GF dressings, there was alist in one of the months and most of them are. Thier chili is GF, though I've never had it. I just stick with my simple salad and baked potato.
The salad bar is great but the selections are limited and not well marked. I asked what soups were gluten free and the young woman said all the soups were as I'm standing by the chicken noodle. She clearly was clueless. I later learned that the chili was.
This seems like it should be a great gluten free experience but the few times I had gone the staff seem like they are not knowledgeable about gluten free and they put out a monthly list that did not match what they actually had so I didn't know what was gluten free or not AND his last time the guy was especially rude about belong me get the list
The other reviewer is right, this place is overpriced. But we find coupons for them all the time and it is one of my favorites. I go for the salad, as they have tons of fun toppings. Ask for the GF menu, it will be an email they print it with the GF options that month.
OMG!!! I love this place so much! Delicious food! But from the soup, only the chili is gluten free. Staff is knowledgeable and kind as well. Oh! And the froyo is amazing :)
Pretty gluten unfriendly place -at least this local one is. Decent salad bar. Minus the fact that its so easy for customers to mix the Gluten contaminated selections in with non gf ones. If these were separated, there would be a minimal chance of exposure. It would be nice if they had some fruit since nothing else there was GF. ;( Decently clean place. Service could use improvement.
This place is a giant salad bar. I happen to love it, but you will need to use your common sense. They label a lot of things for allergens but not everything. When I asked for the GF menu, I was given a printed out email and only a few items were listed. I still enjoy this place
They list which salads are GF, and there are many GF toppings. But most of the soups, and all the pasta and bread is off limits. I usually get a baked potato (with decent toppings) and tapioca pudding. But it isn't high on my list of places to visit. But at least I know I can eat something if other people want to go for buffet style foods there.
They showed me straight to the menu which shows what is gluten and not
I ask the staff to make up my plate from the veggies and lettuce that have not been put out yet to reduce the chance of cross contamination. They have a blog online that lists what is gluten free; most, if not all of the dressings are listed as gluten free, however, I bring my own dressing.
