I should have read the reviews first! When ordering, I asked what would be safest for celiac and I was given the same explanation as others that almost everything is at risk for cross contamination. The person taking my order was super knowledgeable and honest, which I really appreciated (even if I was also disappointed). He suggested a paired down version of the salad but also said that the guacamole (w/out chips) should be safe. Unfortunately, it became very clear in the Lyft back to our hotel that something was not, in fact, safe. I look like I ate an entire basketball, which is really too bad because the food was delicious and the service was excellent. My family (gluten eating vegetarians) absolutely loved every bite.

This place is a fraud. Do not eat here if you need GF food. They are just scamming people by saying they have GF items on their menu. When ordering I asked if the had a dedicated fryer for their house made chips. The reply? “Oh no”. Ok, so no chips and salsa or guacamole for me. He then informed me that the tacos were served in hard, fried taco shells. So then I asked if I could just have uncooked corn tacos as my shells. “Those are not gluten free as well, they are heated on the grill with everything else. You could have a salad, but know that they are all prepared on the same surfaces as gluten items“ How sad that they put their customer’s health last and their desire to appear progressive first just for profit. Avoid this place like the plague.

They told me that they cook all “meat” (breaded or not) in the same pan for all tacos and that they do not recommend that celiacs eat here. They said there would 100% be cross contamination. I left.

Tacotarian is a vegan restaurant with many GF options. I'm not vegan, but the fact that there are so many delicious GF choices that fill me up makes me a fan. I've been here a few times and have not had any of my Celiac symptoms.
