Review of Taj Palace Indian Restaurant

All of the entrees are gluten free, and the biryani is also dairy-free. (A lot of the sauces have dairy.) This is my husband's and my favorite Indian restaurant in Louisville, and that says something because he's Indian and we love Indian food. I usually order Chicken Tikka Masala, and he gets Chicken Tandoori or biryani. They serve papadam for free before the entree comes out, and it's gluten-free and dairy-free (made with chickpea flour). I also love their dessert called Gulab Jamun, which looks like doughnut holes but the taste and texture are different... it is made with powdered milk instead of flour (along with some other things) and fried like a doughnut. I believe they have several other gluten-free desserts but not sure about dairy-free desserts. If I ask gluten-related questions, they are always able to answer or find someone who can. Instead of wheat flour, they usually use chickpea flour to thicken sauces. The atmosphere is good too! I love their buffet because I can eat almost everything on it, but they haven't yet reopened that since the COVID pandemic. They used to stay busy, especially with Indian guests, but they haven't been as busy since the pandemic. Once they get busy enough again, they say they'll be able to reopen the buffet. We are hoping they will stay in business because we would really miss this gem if it didn't make it!
